Hope everyone had a great Labor Day holiday!

I am SO JEALOUS of all the folks going to the meet. Ya'll will have so much fun and I can't wait to read all of the reports.

Sher - sorry you got bumped on your pre-trip. I need to go and read it.

OK - I'm out to try and catch up on the hundreds of pages I've missed.

Ya'll all have a great day! :sunny:

Anyone have any recipes for mole (not to be confused with mole')?

Sorry, no recipes here, any moles that decide to tour my yard quickly become cat food ;)

Dog - sorry about the moles. At first I thought you might have found an interesting thread on the board. Ah, well, I guess I will just have to settle for rodents tearing up your lawn. Except I wouldn't settle for that. Is it time to rent Caddyshack?

Frick and Donna (and Steph) - love the new avatars!!! Bee-yoo-tee-mous.

Sher ~ I feel I am tiptoe-ing a fine line with my pre-trippie that does not exactly fall within the pre-trippie guidelines. I was going to add some backstories, but, as I am currently flying under the radar, do not want to incite the wrath of them. So, I guess no one gets back-stories before we go.

Too bad, I was wanting to "introduce" them to you a bit before we got there.

Puffer. Carp. Jellyfish.

It's not so bad. Where I am. Really. Obscurity is far better than purgatory.

And. I think you could do a back story. Introducing your cast. That is part of the suggested guidelines, after all.

BORG, Sher. I think she could do it too. There are many backstories on the TR board. Besides, WE will read it and promise to stay on topic.

Cha! Do it!!

Fricky, Jam, Amy and Donna. Thanks for the love of Pluto pix! We really had a blast with him....I am dragging my feet sending him to Sher....who will have him forever...He is looking out at the horses now.

AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JW and SleepyD! I saw that mole recipe exchange!!!!!!!!!!!!!You cads! I'll have you know that Bobby brought home a freshly deceased mole last night! How can you talk of recipes and cat food when carnage is happening all around the globe to these gentle, blind critters! Heartless you are...heartless!

Morning Peeps!!! And I like all color peeps, pink and yellow are my fav :teeth:

Thought I would throw out a couple of pictures from the trip this past weekend.

We traveled to the beautiful state of WV. Many, many moons ago my Grandparents owned about 500 acres of the most unadultered and beautiful land you have ever set eyes on. How they acquired it is beyond me because they were the poorest of poor, but as a child I remember many happy times spent roaming the farm. After their deaths, the land was all sold off except for a small parcel that has remained in the family and is the site of our annual family reunion, this was the 79th year. Luckily the small piece that remains contains a small creek where my cousins and I spent endless hours playing and where our children and grandchildren spent hours playing this past weekend.

Hayley loved playing in what she referred to as "Nature" :rotfl: It was fairly cool and damp and she managed to have 5 clothing changes in 1 day by "accidently", her words, getting wet in the creek.

The creek is still filled with little creatures that the kids loved watching!

And yes, those are tattoos covering her face, arms and legs. There was an artist at the reunion that enjoyed covering the kids with artwork :rolleyes1

Everyone has to wear a name tag, because there were about 350 in attendance. And about 20 pets....

This is my beloved brother, myself and John. Since he has spent most of his adult life touring the world in the Army and then settled in Texas I rarely see him. It was wonderful spending some time with him

And because I ate way to much, this was the diet police making her point "Back away from the pie" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Before the comments begin - I am challenged when it comes to posting pictures. If they are large or small, they are what they are. :teeth:

PUFFER, people!! I just spent an hour and a half catching up. Good thing my boss isn't in yet. And good thing I don't have TOO much to do at work today. I need a relaxing week. To make up for the not so relaxing weekend. That included an unexpected Friday til Monday stay from my inlaws. I will leave it at that. And next weekend we have to contend with my parents. Did I mention that I need a relaxing week?? Perhaps I'll try some of those beverage recipes that were posted way back... and I don't even (normally) drink mixed drinks!

Love all the pics. I don't remember what else I was going to comment on, so I'll just say...

MAELSTROM...

Not only are they essentially blind, they can't swim, either. I know 'cuz they drown in the pool all the time about which I'm tres happy. My cats are strictly indoor, so they do keep down the mouse population, but the moles are free to roam. . .until they meet their demise in some gruesome fashion in my yard.

Last edited by sheridac : Today at 10:03 AM. Reason: you know me, I have to do it MY way!!!
Is your way the same as Ol' Blue Eyes or Elvis'?

Grammy: Great pics! And you weren't too far from my neck o' the woods.

Grammy ~
beautiful pictures. I could live with owning nature like that. My mom still has 20 acres of family land in Southern Illinois. It is farmed by family members. She gets an annual update, and goes at least once a year to "inspect." That is actually where she is headed after she leaves us in Disney.

Rhonda ~
no hill for a climber. 50 posts in 10 days with an intervening visit from the Parental Units? Easy peazy . . . :thumbsup2

Sher ~
Of course you did it your way. Since it's your way or the highway. Wait, that didn't rhyme as well that way. Hmmmm.

I might do some backstories. The guideline that I would be pushing is the "a day or two before you leave" guideline. So, I might go ahead and write the installments, then not put them up until the week before. If I have that much patience. Or, I might just risk getting temporarily shut down. We'll see.

But not today. I am signing off now. Very busy. And I just found out that the internest has decided to scope Brian's throat tomorrow. I think the probably diagnosis is reflux or Barrett's Asophogus. We'll see.

Grammy! Those pictures of the holler are beeyouteaous!!!!!!!!!!!! Hayley has gotten so big! Love the pic of the crick, and OMG Dinky's nametage! :rotfl:

Did you cope? Were there enough spices? Did John choke you all the way with his cigar smokin and singin'? Brings me back to my road trip with ya!

GCat and Sher write how you want! Don't compromise like me! Amy just save all your backdrop for the last day, when you have nothing else to do! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Snoopsleepypupster! Nice avoidance on the shaming of being retired!

Hay Rhonda missed ya!

I hate'em. With a passion. They serve absolutely no useful service other than to raise my dander, ire, and blood pressure. Throw out everything you may have ever read about moles from so-called experts, too. They must breed like rabbits; they aren't territorial as best as I can tell; they tear up manicured and untreated lawns and fields alike; they can't swim worth puffer; and they grow to be the size of rats. I realize they are one of God's creatures, but I still hate'em. They are ubitquitous, and there is a plethora of them in my yards. Did I mention I hate'em? Between them and the yeller jacks this year, summer has been some kind o' fun.

Dog, at least your yard varmints are the small scale, furry kind. The church has a migrating armadillo that loves our sanctified worms and holy grubs. It tears up the yard something fierce.

And by chance I have a (IMHO) great mole' salsa recipe. No moles necessary.

Trying to catch up and do about a million other things at the same time.

Loved your craftiness Kimmie and Haley's scrapbook pages and the new avatars

I forgot already :guilty: but someone (kimmie?)had a sick child, hope they are better and Amy - good luck on your little ones tests

And anything else I missed :grouphug: :moped: :smokin: :dance3: :stir: :surfweb: :Pinkbounc

I grew up in an armadillo-infested area. Talk about a stupid animal. They wander out onto the road as you approach, and instead of running away, they jump UP into a ball! The moles do a fine job of messing with my yard, too, given they often kill the grass along their tunnels, especially in dry years as this one has mostly been.

I'd love the recipe, berg. Always looking for good things to make.

Hey Maelstromers-

Hope everybody had a good weekend. We headed out of town to the MIL's and I come back to find Shelby's MIL toilet paper picture. That cracked me up. Actually it was a good visit. We had a good time. Lots of shopping. I hated to get up and come back in to work today though.

HORSEY! I loved the pics of Viking Pluto! They were so cute. I'm talking about the kids, of course. The pics weren't bad either. You've got some definite cuties. You know, we were really upset about Steve Irwin too. DS was crushed. The Crocodile Hunter is one of his favorite shows. He loves the Animal Planet channel almost as much as the Disney Channel. And that's saying alot. I posted to your trippie and forgot to tell you Way to Go on the weight loss. That's awesome, Horsey!

Frickles: You're lookin' pretty jazzed up there, my Girl. Very cool avatar. Although I think you should've had Laffy Taffy in there. Somewhere.

Grammy: Love the pictures. That scenery is beautiful. The back away from the pie one is just too cute. But why am I singing John Denver in my head now?

Sher: Your pre trippie is crackin' me up. You're a nut. Without or without the wing.

Sleepydog: I bet Tinkinadrink can hook ya up with a mole recipe. She's got a recipe for everything. Including Crap on The Counters. Apparently.
