Late night shout out to everyone. It took me a while to get caught up after being away for a few days with no wireless at the hotel. I got to see hundreds of hot-looking and fast cars at the Mopar Nationals. Lots of interesting sights and sounds. Let's just say that many of the t-shirt sayings, tattoos and personal attire choices were not family-friendly. The racing was pretty exciting. The burnout contests, not so much. Discovered it was not a good idea to be downwind of squealing car tires - those rubber particles are hard to get off your skin. Who knew???

Kitty, Grammy, Sher, Java, YAJ, kpk and Ash - Loved your new pics and graphics.

Hello, to all.

Not quite sure how to "say" this.
So.
Here goes.

Today some good friends of mine were involved in a very tragic accident in which a beloved 25-year-old young man was killed. While wrapping work. My friends are absolutely fine. Tho, obviously, shaken and grief-stricken. And honestly, a bit numb.

My heart and soul are quite heavy with this news. And the absurdity (my apologies, I know no other word for it) of it all. And in trying to riddle out this entire situation. And its complexities. It occurred to me that even though *we* didn't know him, he and his family are quite deserving of a moment of our thoughts. And prayers.

And so I post.

I'm so sorry that this is what you each has to wake up to.
But being (I wholeheartedly believe) amongst friends, and such kind ones at that, you'd be willing the share in this family's grief. For a moment.

And then take the rest of your moments to love yours with every millimeter of your being.

Well I was going to post a mini-vent about getting up early to book the CP Dinner Package this morning, only to be told that they had to "postpone" it with no alternate date given, but in light of Sid's post that seems whiny-er than I already thought it was.


So instead, I'll just say

Don't faint, but I agree with Sher. . .all her points. Too often do we slip through life without appreciating those closest to us and even those with whom we have the slimmest of contact.

What's left is for us to continue breathing in the fresh mountain air during a hike. . .
. . .reveling in the spray from the ocean
. . .laughing heartily at life's little ironies
. . .running that extra mile because it feels good
. . .baking that cake for the neighbor's birthday
. . .offering a simple smile to that grumpy cashier
. . .smelling that freshness after a summer shower
. . .building a snowman
. . .being absolutely quiet as a deer munches grass nearby
. . .oohing and ahhing over a bright rainbow
. . .fantasizing about being there when you see a full moon
. . .shedding tears of joy during a wedding
. . .looking in the eyes of someone you love and telling them so

Our greatest contribution to those who die before us is to remember not to let life's little pleasures be in vain. And. To keep smiling, laughing, loving.

After doing much research, I decided upon the Panasonic DMC-LZ2--lightweight, superb features, great pics, good predicted reliability, and it can use nearly any style battery from lithium, to rechargeable, to standard. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
