Reading all of these rumors is making my stomach turn.

I have to agree...

Anyone who complains about construction walls is just a tad out of touch.

I said that downtown is hideous...and it is...

But make no mistake, I love it. I want a complete correction of the rape of downtown that was perpetuated 6 years ago.

Is it pretty and convenient? No.
But Disney does very well to hide their construction or minimize its impact? Yes.

Only the peripheral scenery is affected.
And if that "ruins your trip"...then you're gripping the bat too tight

Totally agree. Was fantasyland an eye sore for the 3,4 however many years it took for them to put it in? Definately, but the sight lines now are pretty nice I would say

Compared to AK now, Fantasyland wasn't an eyesore at all. For some reason, AK really bothers me, and it's not even my favorite park.

I've gotten used to the hub too, so the only time it looks really bad is when I'm on the TTA. Conversely, it's kind of cool from that vantage point to see the work being done.

DTD is what just kills me. I have to mentally prepare. And then I get immersed and pretty much forget.

Now that the weather is dry, they're playing catch up - but you can finally see some awesome progress.

Like i mentioned before, I'm all for these new rides and attractions but Disney really need to keep the Theming exciting and not fall into the trap like Universal where they are all indoor rides in what look like massive boxes from the outside.

Isn't the last hugely popular new ride that disney built TSM? Its the definition of a box from the outside (not that it bothers me). Also, most people here should be urging disney to fall into the universal trap of building great new rides quickly. Your the first person I've heard that thinks the Harry Potter stuff at Universal lacks exciting theming and looks like a massive box.

While I don't like boxed, interchangeable ride buildings...

I also don't like cheapskate with attractions and stagnation.

They shouldn't put boxes all over EPCOT or animal kingdom...but they can get away with some of that at studios.

Rockinroller coaster is a very distinct "box" that Is visible...nobody complains...

If the ride is good...it won't matter. And aren't all Disney rides in boxes concealed with facades?

The front part of haunted mansion, splash mountain, pirates or the Caribbean are just headfakes more or less.

Im thinking more of over in Universal, there's a lot of dark rides which while isn't a bad thing if the ride is good, it can make bit of an eye-sore on the outside

haven't been since July when there was little to no walls (not to mention it started pouring at 11 o'clock and put a literal damper on our day) so I probably wouldn't have noticed regardless

While I think it will be a bit disappointing that all the construction walls are around - I think people (and OP) are over-reacting to the amount of things that are closed.

Look at what has really closed at DHS:

American Idol - which unless you are a huge fan is no loss at all. It's something that was only added in the last 5 years as well.
The Backlot Tour - This has been a total shell of itself for the last 10 years. It actually was more or less a tram ride through a garbage dump.
Legend of Jack Sparrow - saw this just 2 weeks ago for the first time. It was OK, but nothing to really complain about or occupy more than 10 minutes of your time. Again, it was only here for 2 years, so before that you wouldn't have missed anything.
The HAT - even if they are taking it out - it's not an ATTRACTION. It's a big metal hat.

If I listed every attraction at DHS this would be the order I would put them in, from best to worst:
Toy Story Midway Mania
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
Fantasmic!
Muppet*Vision 3D
The Great Movie Ride
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
Jedi Training Academy
The Magic of Disney Animation
Walt Disney: One Man's Dream
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: Movie Set Adventure
Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow
Disney Junior Live on Stage
Studio Backlot Tour
The American Idol Experience

So, Out of 19 attractions, they've removed 3. Sure that's a good 16%, but still the things they HAVE removed are no great loss. There is still plenty in that park to do for a day, especially for someone that hasn't been. And as of right now, there is no noticable construction going on. Perhaps that will change between now and February. Perhaps not.

The construction walls in MK are not that bad. It's just the hub, the rest of the park is all open. As others have pointed out, the new Little Mermaid ride may be down for a time, but everything else at MK is open, and there is SOOO much here to do.

Epcot you really can't tell anything. Norway had it's ride closed. Otherwise, it's all the same. Plenty to do.

AK is probably the park with the most going on in terms of construction walls, though the Avatar stuff is all off to the side. My understanding with the Rivers of Light there are some walls up around Discovery river, but again, EVERYTHING is operating as normal, so you won't miss anything.

DTD is where its REALLY bad. But it's a shopping district. Skip it if you want, you won't have really missed anything.

So - calm down, relax, your trip will not be "RUINED". A few walls does not make or break your experience.

I totally agree. DTD is a MESS! We went there our first night this past Sept and I have no plans on returning until it's finished. AK was crazy too but all in all, we LOVE WDW so much, can't help but return annually. :)
