I know that with the new
DAS you are given a time to come back later. When you come back, you go through the FP+ line correct? I've read that those lines have even been long lately. So, what if waiting in line is a problem? I have no problem with the time to wait (fair enough for everyone!!) it's just the waiting in the line that is the problem.
You will come back to the Fastpass a Plus line in many cases.
People have been posting recently that those lines may be long, but actually move quickly as people are getting used to scanning their Magicbands/cards. So, a couple of ways you can deal with it.
1) if you come and the line is long, watch it for a few minutes. It may look long, but actually be moving quickly.
People also tend to 'camp out' in front of the line waiting for their time. With Fastpass, we often saw a large line in front of or near an attraction and then realized most of it was actually people whose time had not arrived yet. Sometimes they even block the entrance.
2) most people tend to return at the beginning of their Fastpass time because they are worried about getting in before the end of their window. Since the DAS Return Time doesn't have an end, you don't have to be there right when the time begins.
3) if the line extends past the actual roped off line part, you can send part of your party to feet into line while the rest wait outside. Once the ones waiting in line get to the actual roped off area, you can join them.
4) use other members of your group to create a 'buffer' around the person with the DAS in line so strangers don't get too close.
5) if you can get to a park early in the morning, lines are still usually short without needing yo use DAS Returns or Fastpass Plus, so you may be able to get many attractions in before it gets busy.
www.easywdw.com has good touting plan that would be helpful.
6) I you could ask the CM at the attraction if there are any alternative entrances you can use if the Fastpass Plus line looks too daunting. Be prepared for bring told no though. Many did not have any other entrance before the change and even those that find are sending as many guests as possible thru the Fastpass Plus lines ( in many cases the alternative line was the only wheelchair accessible entrance and there were longer waits there).
7) a wheelchair or a stroller (with a 'stroller as wheelchair' tag) can help give separation and a safe haven, so you may want to consider that if you are not already.
8) have fidgets or whatever would help your child wait in line ready for use.
