Re: Tusker House--What is Disney's e-mail re: dining??? anyone???

We love the Tusker House and always eat from there, grabbing the chicken or the salmon and sharing either between the two of us while enjoying a nice, cold beer and whatever show might be happening. I will really miss it.

Oh my. They haven't said anything about closing the bar have they???

I did think of one more thing - Y&Y most likely will not participate in the dining plan. I believe they needed an all-day TS restaurant at AK that would.

With the general hours AK keeps, I wonder what the dinner schedule will be.

This is copy of the note I sent to WDW......I just had to unload the disgust off my chest

Quick comment on WDW's plans to change TH to a buffet. My wife and I have been comtemplating where to spend our 25th wedding anniversary this year. Though we have spent the last three years out of 4 at WDW for our Christmas getaway we still had it as one of our top options this year along with Callaway Gardens, GA and Las Vegas, NV. WDW and once again Wilderness Lodge was in at our No. 1 choice.

I am sorry to say that when we heard Tusker House is going away before our anniversary trip, WDW immediately was relegated to third place on our option list. This was our favorite counter service restaurant in all of WDW but that was not THE reason but rather the principal behind the TH venue change to an overpriced buffet. TH had great lunch plates and most were healthy. We would top it off with a pastry from the bakery for our one indulgence of the day.

Just like the city we live in, Charlotte NC, WDW has through the years been slowly and subletly changing attractions to target the younger, free spending demographic groups to the detriment of others for the sole reason: "PROFIT". However, financial research has shown that the "boomers" have more disposable financial assets because of their retirement accounts and inheritances than any other age group and they will spend if the product is of good quality and fair value when they start to retire in the very near future but strangley this group has been the most ignored by marketers. Boomers have have a very long memory. Just ask Ford and GM.

We will be coming again to Orlando but will most likely be going off the grounds for some meals which is something we had never done and also include Universal for a major part of our schedule.

I know this note will be answered with an automatic preformatted response and then maybe trashed but I had to say it anyway.

>>Anyone notice how many obese people and those approaching obesity frequent these buffet style restaurants and literally gorge themselves. Not meaning to gross you out but every buffet we used to eat at had sneezing, wheezing kids wiping their noses, mouths and then handling the serving utensils. No more buffets for us!!<<

I KNOW that will be happening- I am already bracing myself. I guess Disney forgets about those of us who do not have kids and still like a nice meal!:rolleyes1
Actually having kids does not equate to families not enjoying TS restauants too. We do not eat at CS during our stays, but Disney's trend is shifting TS to be more like CS. If the trend continues you may only find buffets, cafeterias, mess halls and universal menus at Disney. There are already some odd offerings in some ethnic restaurants that appear to be catering to diverse groups who may not willing to dine in a ethnic restaurant, but want to use their tickets.

Like everything, this runs in cycles, never getting really to the bottom or the top of the range. There will almost surely always be someplace nice to sit down and have a good meal, served to you. The number of such venues will vary based on customer demand.

I emailed a complaint as well and only received a generic response from Disney....in other words, "too bad, so sad". lol:headache:

TH is also our favorite CS restaurant in Disney. We make it a point to plan our day so that we can hit TH for lunch each time we're there. I am also very disappointed that they are changing this. As a family of 6, I have to agree that there are plenty of buffets around - we try to limit our buffets to 1 or 2 each trip. If they wanted to add a TS buffet restaurant, why couldn't they build one? I'm sure they have plenty of space available. Why do they have to change the best CS restaurant in AK (ok, maybe just my opinion, but you get the point)? I will also send an e-mail to let them know my disappointment.

Tusker House by far was our favorite CS restaurant last week! How disappointing that they are going to change it!

Just sent a message too! We LOVE TH and will be sad that when we go the next time (whenever that is), it won't be there!!! Bad move Disney!!

Does anyone know if the bakery area (Kusafiri) will remain? DD loved to get muffins from there?

Tusker House fan here, but we are huge character meal fans, too, so I am looking forward to the change (Actually Breakfastasaurus is one of our least favorite character meals...)...just hope it's well done!

This makes me so

What do you think the chances are they'll transfer some/all of the menu items to Flame Tree?

Sent my 'statement' in-

Don't expect a REAL response, just a canned one.

:(

I think it more likely that the menu items will be transferred to the new Tusker House -- put on the buffet.

According to wdwmagic another discussion board they will still be open for coffee and pastries after the referb and you can order from the outside window.

go to wdwmagic homepage and click on the May 9th Tusker changing link

Do you know what I also mentioned in my e-mail to Disney--
