Just looking for more specific tips about the Ray Shade (old posts don't seem to contain much info except about price).

We have a Mac Triumph (love it!), but since we vacation to WDW every July for 2 weeks, we know how hot and humid the Florida sun is (we also experience the same weather here in Ontario, Canada, so the sun shade will get good usage). I can't tell from photos how big this shade is? Does it go over our existing Mac Shade? My DD3 - can't believe my baby is 3 (just yesterday!), doesn't like mosquito netting, or covers over her head, so can anyone tell me how far down the Ray Shade extends?

Thanks, Tiger

P.S. Only 4 weeks and 2 more days to go!

Thanks! I attempted to get on their website the other day, but it was down for a bit. That's a big help.

Thanks, Tiger

I saw one of these things last weekend at Hershey and it was HUGE! It covered the entire stroller- now from what I saw it looked like it went over your existing shade. It kind of bows down. Now I don't know if it is adjustable but the way this family was using it- whoever is in the stroller can not see out. It is also black. In looking at it I decided it was not for me. I thought it would be like an oven in there in FL in July. But maybe with my fan?.......

java - That's what I thought too, but it says the material is breathable. I also saw a few reviews that said it doesn't curve like in the photos, but this could be due to operator error as well.

Any tips from Ray Shade users would be appreciated, Tiger

Ray Shade will extend the reach of your shade, but probably won't cover the entire stroller. The previous poster who saw the other huge black shade may have seen a protect-a-bub, which can cover the entire stroller. When we put the protect-a-bub on, my DH refers to it as the Conestoga Wagon cover. It is huge. This also means that we can create an adequately shaded area for our napping little one, who has his mom's skin tone --- fish-belly white.

Although these shades are "breatheable" material, they won't allow much breeze to travel through. It's best to use it to extend the existing shade, rather than using it to cover the stroller seat from hood to toe.

I went last Oct with a friend and I used the Ray Shade over my double stroller and got it to cover quite a bit of the two sleeping children. My friend used hers on a single stroller and it covered all the way down to the seat (with a bit of tugging) it kept her extremely pale little man covered and not too hot. I loved it and will not go to WDW without it again. Just a side note, it works better when put over the original stroller's shade cover, and can be easily forlded up in the stroller's shade cover when not in use.

We just got a Ray Shade, FYI Walmart.com has them for 14 to 18.00 depending on what size you need. We have a double Mac, and it covers better than our Mac. If you wanted it to cover them totally in the front you could. Otherwise it gives enough protection to provide shade almost to their ankles on the footrests.

We used ray shade this weekend on our Peg and it extended straight out parallel to the ground. The baby could still see out the front. The regular shade that comes on the stroller would not block near enough of that harsh Florida sun--baby's legs would have been in the sun a lot of the time.

I will admit it made the stroller look a little silly!

Thanks for info. Can't order from Walmart as they don't take Canadian orders (I can ship to friend in U.S., but Walmart won't process Canadian credit cards - I can't stand Walmart, so no big deal here!) I can get it from Target or several other online baby stores. Prices are funny though as it ranges from $14.00 - $21.00. I can buy it here in Canada online for $22.00 plus tax and shipping, so it's a better deal in U.S. - as are most products.

Thanks, Tiger

We have a blue one for our graco and a black one for our quest.

I really like it for when she is napping in the stroller - it was a must have when she was a newborn, but now at the toddler stage, I am much more comfortable slapping on the sunscreen then I was back then.

You can adjust how much coverage you get by where you tie it onto the stroller frame - it fits right over your existing canopy - and we were even able to fold up both strollers with it attached.

Also, I have both the blue and black to be very breathable.

Tiger,
There are several for auction on eBay right now. Not sure how much shipping to Canada would be, but it's worth a try!

Has anyone tried the Sun Smarties Parasol from One Step Ahead? We own the Ray Shade bought from OSA as well and it does provide very good coverage. However, I dislike the fact that I must walk all around to the front to see DS. The Smarties Parasol looks like it may also give great coverage since you can adjust it depending on the sun's location yet give us (and DS) more visual space. I went ahead and ordered it last night because my trip is coming up shortly, though I realize I should have waited to see if there were any reviews here. (I keep having trouble using the search feature -- getting pretty tired of the "server is busy" notice.)
