Just thought I'd revive the thread. How's everybody doing? Any new students? Hubby started his 2nd semester about a month ago and some days I'd like to crawl under a rock. No matter how much anyone prepares themselves I just don't think anyone can anticipate what it's going to be like. Most of the time it's manageable but everything is so overwhelming. I worked 3 jobs since August until last week. Hubby wasn't cut out to handle the Mr. Mom routine and things were starting to fall apart. He studies constantly holed up in our office so even when he's home we don't see him. At least I can work on the house more since I'm not working as much but I'm still gone almost every night and every weekend so I don't get to see the kiddos very much. Hubby's classes are 10X as hard as his prereqs so basically if he passes a test he's doing well which leaves him no margin for error. Hate to sound like such a downer but I'm having a bad week. I know the end result will benefit everyone but it's impossible to look forward to the end result when you have to take things one day at a time.(not my strongpoint) Guess I just need some words of encouragement. Any inspirational stories anyone?
If his program is anything like mine, hopefully it won't get any "tougher," so to speak. I just started my 3rd semester and the pace is still the same, the amount of info we need to cram is the same. The assignment load is the same. Your husband is lucky he has you to cover for him while he's in school
. I have a great husband who has taken over most of the kid responsibilities. I still won't let him do the laundry. If he started cooking I think I could handle that
. My husband lost his job 9 wks ago (automotive engineer), so I am even more determined to get through this and be able to help provide for our family. Make sure that your husband does get a little downtime if possible. I have tried to get my husband to help me study, but sometimes only another nursing student can help in that area. Make sure that both of you still get time together, somehow! Time flies during nursing school, thank goodness!
Taking your co-reqs while you wait is an excellent idea. Hubby took all of his except for his Eng101 which he is taking now. He really wishes he could've fit it in somewhere prior.
Hubby wonders if it will ever stop getting more intense. He started working 2 days a week about a month ago and I told him if it gets to be too much to tell me. Between his 3 classes and clinicals he's swamped! We do try to go out once a month just the two of us and we both have every other Sunday off so we can spend time as a family. Funny that you mention laundry. Hubby has been doing ours(sorta) and this morning I opened up the dryer to find mulit-color clothes! One of my boys had left 2 crayons in their pocket so everything is orange and black including the dryer! Oh well, guess we're ready for Halloween...
Good luck with your classes!
