I thought they had stopped this Michelle, but I could be wrong. If you have up to date reports they must have started it again

I know there was a hullaballoo on the restaurants board a while back when it stopped, or got modified (I forget which) but I guess it may have restarted.

I seem to remember it was stopped, but now the GG is refurbed, maybe it has restarted. We rehitched in Jan '03 & it was good fun with a souvenir certificate, although DD (3 at the time) was rather confused! It occurs during the ice cream social which was $$$ well spent as the character interaction was excellent

I reserved a dinner at the Garden Grill for my family and requested the re-hitching for our trip last Feb [Valentine's Week]. The food was great and the service excellent, our server made sure we all got to inter act with Farmer Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale and Pluto our 4yr old DS was amazed. The re-hitching was fun our 'preacher' Michelle was a hoot! We also were given a cake with Happy Anniversary on as we were celebrating our 11th yr together. I would definately ask a member of staff at the CRO when you telephone to make your reservations if the GG still do this .

We also did the re-hitching during lunch in April 2004. It was great fun and the certificate is a lovely souvenir. After you have re-taken your vows you have to kiss to the count of 100 while the WHOLE restaurant looks on! Luckily the count is done in tens!
It would be a terrible shame if the re-hitching was no longer being done.

I am rather confused. What exactly happens? What do you do? How much extra does it cost? Do you need anything? What exactly do you ask for at reservations? Walt disney world site does not recognise re-hithcing when searching

This sounds great, but a little confused about all the details sorry if I am being dumb

I believe this has stopped now.

we did it last year at the Garden Grille. Basically the server stops everyone and says that as they weren't invited to our wedding he would have to rehitch us. We then had to say some "vows" and kiss to 100 (in 10s!!!) Chip, dale and Goofy were our witnesses. It was great fun, we got a cake and certificate.

last year i organised the re-hitchin ceremony for my sil, i phoned wdw here and paid for it over the phone. it was a surprise for the 25th wedding anniversary! at the time they had to re-do their vows in the disney way and also chip n dale was there and i think goofy was, the server who pretended to be the preacher made them kiss until she reached 100, which sounds ages but it was done , 1, 2, 3...then 10, 20 ,30etc.
this was last july, then later on in the year they changed it from having to kiss your partner, to just feeding each other a piece of cake.

Well, no-one has been forthcoming in explaining what re-hitching is, but would I be correct in guessing (after reading the other posts) that its something like renewing your wedding vows ?

Yes, and then you are given a "wedding certificate" signed by your server (the preacher), Mickey Mouse (the best man) and Minnie Mouse ( the maid of honour).
