Can anyone answer me a quick question? Are the new RFID mugs just for guests staying at a WDW resort hotel? If they are, is there something similar just for regular park guests:confused3

Thanks in advance:thumbsup2

The RFId mugs are just at the resort hotels. They do not have refillable cups at the 4 main theme parks.

They have them at the water parks and anyone can buy them and they are done per day.

when we stayed off resort a couple of years back prior to the RFID mugs, we were able to just buy them, I can't see why things should be any different now. You can, by all accounts just pick them up and pay for the number of days you want them for. I can't see anybody asking if you are a resort guest.:goodvibes

Why would you want one if you're not a hotel guest? I thought you could only use them at the hotels?

Why not? :confused3

We certainly got full use of them when we stayed off resort. It all depends on your touring style. We like going to a park for opening then leaving it and going to a resort for lunch. We also normally came back from a park to POR or FQ via their FC and then catching the DTD boat back to our hotel at LBV!

thanks Queendisney like you, we too do the parks early then pop out for early dinner then bk to a park for the evening

Yes you can only use them at hotels but resort hopping and exploring is a popular activity for guests staying both onsite and off :) If I were doing that in the heat of summer I'd like the option to get the resort mug.

I was just trying to ascertain whether they were available for non resort guests as well.

Yes, they are for anyone who wishes to purchase then.

I'm not sure about this as the new system offers the mugs for different length of stay periods, which does suggest you might now need to be staying at a WDW hotel. I don't know this, but it is the logic of it.

just done a bit of research, ok been on google!!;) By all accounts anybody can purchase them, you only have to tell them how many days you want it for, they don't do any checks and its not linked to any reservation. I suppose that sort of makes sense as its easy money for WDW seeing as though soda fountain drinks are so cheap. They never checked before so can't think they will now. :)

I see where you're coming from in thinking that as yes, it would be logical. however I think that the length of stay option has been put in place due to resort guests who are purchasing mugs or get them with the dining plan and are staying a little longer. Until the new system was introduced, a purchased resort mug was for length of stay by default. What they have done now is add the option for guests to pay less for the mug for a shorter duration which better caters for those doing a short stay or perhaps offsite guests who are spending a few days resort hopping
