We are taking our first trip to DLR, staying at the GCH and we have 3-day PH tickets. I've read that you need to get your hand stamped if you want to re-enter the park on the same day. Does this apply even with the park hopper? As an avid WDW park hopper, we use them to come and go as much as we please on the same day. Does it work the same way at DL? Also, how does the early entry (I think it's called magic morning) work because we have park hoppers and are staying at GCH? Can we get in early every day we are there?

My response: :yay: :cheer2:

Yes, even with the park hopper you will need to get your hand stamped; and you will also need to show your tickets when you re-enter.

Yes, absolutely. And parkhopping is much easier at DLR – it takes literally just a minute or two to walk between DL and DCA.

Staying on-site will give you the Magic Morning privilege for each day that it’s offered (Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun). Check out DLR29’s Magic Morning Super Thread: www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403 :wizard:

My answers are in bold.

OK. So if we leave DL and go to CA the same day we don't need to get stamped. But if we leave DL and want to come back later, we need a stamp. Correct? May I ask why we would need the stamp even with the PH tickets?

Honestly, they tell you that you need your hand stamped, but when we did our 5 days there last year we only got our hand stamped once and we re-entered both parks multiple times a day. They just zinged our passes and voila, we went right through. They didn't even ask to see ds's pass most of the time because he was in the stroller.

Now, my mother in law was with us and she had a park hopper and they told her she had to have her hand stamped, so she did, but they never once checked it when she came through the gates with us, just gave them her ph.

I think it may be just whoever's line you go through? :confused3

So that only one person uses the Park Hopper.

Getting one's hand stamped (on your way out of either park) takes 2-4 seconds. It's what one does when exiting a park....every time (unless you're calling it a day).

& as SS Columbia mentions, park hopping is much easier....& much better.....& lends to more effective touring....than at WDW.

I would never consider a DLR visit without park hopping each day.

No, you'll want to get your hand stamped even just to go to the second park, it's not only to come back to the same park. It's not a big deal at all. You'll go to the exits, get in line, and as you're heading out the turnstyle just stop for a millisecond with your hand out and they'll stamp you. Not a big deal at all.

ONly time you don't need a handstamp is if you're an AP holder, and that's b/c they have your picture that pops up 8x10 (or so) when they scan your card. They KNOW it's you. Whereas if yo uwere a sneaky person, you could go to DL, leave, and then pass your ticket off to someone so they could go to DCA, but if the CMs are suspicious and that person doesn't have the hand stamp, it's a way they can prove that that user isn't the person that went to DL earlier.

So get your hand stamped.

I don't have a problem with the stamp. I'm just not understanding the way it's done at the turnstiles. At WDW they don't have a stamp; You do the finger scan, insert your ticket and it remembers you for the next time. I guess they don't have that at DLR. Just trying to figure it out, that's all.

As you walk through the turn styles to get out there is someone who stamps your hand as you walk through.

When you enter the other park, or re-enter the same park, you hand them your ticket or AP to scan. The person may or may not ask to see the stamp on your hand. You just hold up your hand. Even though I have an AP, I always make sure to have a stamp just in case. This past holiday season they were checking it even on APs.

You're right, the turnstiles at DL and DCA do not have 'finger scan.' :goodvibes
