I've rebook onboard a few times. My question is that my daughter and her husband want to try DCL. So on my Dec Cruise, I'm going to use the on board flyer to book them a room. I will also rebook a room for my wife and myself. I will put her room in her name.

If I was to later cancel MY reservation, but leave theirs, will they still be entitled to the 10% discount and the $100 Visa Card OBC?

Do I need to put her room on her charge card?? Of can I put both rooms on my charge card for deposit.

Thanks

Chris

Here is the skinny on that....I tried to play this game a 1000 different ways (not that I think that is what you are doing :) ) One of the two of you sailing has to be the lead guest on the reservation and the room tied to yours will still be part of that booking. As soon as the lead guest pulls out of the reservation, the whole reservation has to be cancelled and rebooked without the onboard booking offer. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we had friends try to book us for our next cruise the exact way you are talking about and they were distinctly told no, it has to be in their name and if they cancel...both rooms are cancelled.

The on board booking cast members seem to be inconsistent in applying these rules. My wife and I went on a B2B this past January. We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary next July and going with our 4 adult children and their families, so needed 5 staterooms. We were able to book 2 placeholders on the first leg, with my wife and I booked in one and one of our daughters booked in the second. The next leg we booked 3 additional placeholders. Neither my wife nor I were named on any of these. The third placeholder booked on this cruise did not receive the discount, but only the $200 stateroom credit. My wife and I also did a Mediterranean cruise this summer and tried to reshop the non-discounted room. The on board cast member didn't seem very helpful, but suggested that we book two more placeholders (one for my wife and I, and the other for our son and 3 grandsons) and then let our TA see if she could do something with that reservation. The TA was able to substitute the new placeholder for the previous reservation and get the discount and reduced deposit.
