I rented a car through alamo for my upcoming trip in December. I didn't want to prepay as I will continue to look for a better deal (although I did get a pretty good deal!). I noticed though that if I prepayed, I would have saved an extra $15....anybody ever do this? Advantaged or disadvantages? How far in advance do you have to do this, or can you do it on an already existing reservation? And finally, is this the same as checking in on an already existing reservation?

I have used them 5 times @ Orlando and I never pre-paid. I have always gotten great rates by keeping a watch on it. I wouldnt pre-pay, but that is just me.

I have rented from Alamo 9 or 10 times at MCO and I spend around an hour or two checking the rates and codes I get in my email from Alamo. When I get a rate I think is a value to me. I prepay to get the 15% off and then 24 hours before I’m there I check in online. Then you can go straight to the garage and pick out my car, midsize SUV every time for me. No lines are so great.
