So a wonderful family friend is letting us use their rci points again(we went to Williamsburg this summer)So we are planning our family's first disney trip:)So we are thinking of May 24-June2,which I hope will be star wars weekend. So here is my question, rci has about 20 resorts available for our dates and I know that sonetimes Disney resorts are included but there are none offered at this time.Does anyone know if that will change? We really wanted to stay onsite mostly because of the transportation and not having to rent a car.My dh has some medical issues that means sometimes he may not be able to join our boys(6&10) and I.So knowing I can use disney transportation to get around makes me feel comfortable about taking the boys myself and not getting lost.I should mention I am extremely directionally challenged:lmao: But I'm wondering if we stay in a resort that has a shuttle and rent a car if that is a good option.Need some good advice THANKS

You have to keep checking, and make sure that your friend's timeshare company trades with Disney. Even if they say RCI, I know that it still may not come up. I can get them through my company, but friend, who has a different one, can't get the same ones I can at the same time. I haven't seem to be able to find a consistent time/day when they deposit their resorts. Usually don't see much before six months before you want to travel. We got really lucky and got BLT this past January, rarely see that. I keep hoping something gets deposited for a week in February so I can run the Princess Half, but no luck so far. I check regularly. Good luck!

From what I have heard it can be next to impossible to trade RCI for a Disney resort. Your best bet may be to stay off site at another RCI resort close to Disney.

Not true at all. It may be difficult, but it certainly isn't possible. We had a very nice stay at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

The key will be how many points the friend has available to share. There is a holiday in the week you selected, so that may make it a bit harder. Usually early June has a lot of availability in Orlando.

We traded through RCI last year. For a few weeks there was nothing available and then one morning, BAM, loads of stuff. Our problem was that we needed a 2br and most available were studio. We ended up changing our dates to take advantage of a 2br that popped up at OKW. Not our favorite time of year, but sometimes you take what you can...or just wait it out. You never know! Good luck. We are wanting to do it again this year, but I can't find the info anywhere on RCI points amounts for trades (forgot where I found them before) and its making me a bit nutty!! LOL

Thanks everyone:) Our friend has over 800,000 points for 2013. I will keep checking,in the past I saw OKW,SS and WL but was not sure if this was a one time thing. If we can't find a place onsite with rci does disney have any deals at all that time of year?I can not change the dates because with these dates my kids will only miss 2 days of school.

Did you see anything on RCI for DVC? A friend is also looking for next year and said she has not seen anything in a few weeks...Unusual?

May/June won't show up for another month or two. You'll need to check in the wee hours of Sunday mornings for the best selection (just what I've noticed).

And it's pretty darn easy to trade into DVC through RCI. We've gotten 4 weeks this year:

2nd week in Jan @ SSR

Memorial Day week @ BCV

3rd week in Oct @ SSR

Christmas week @ SSR

SSR is our preferred resort which is why we picked it. There were rooms at OKW, SSR, BLT , BCV and AKV that I saw all during those same times.

We also traded into DVC with RCI. Stayed at WL this past January. I believe I started checking at the 9 month mark. I checked every day, several times a day and it didn't take long before WL and a couple of others showed.

You can also put in a request for your specific dates and resort with RCI. That way, if one becomes available it is reserved for you before it even makes in onto the site. Although, I've never traded into Disney it has definitely made a Caribbean vacation possible.
