My MIL is giving us her RCI points. We have narrowed it down to Sheraton Vistana, but I can not tell the difference between just Sheraton Vistana or Sheraton Vistana Fountain Villas. I have checked multiple threads and I still don't get if one is more important than the other. We will be going this year. We have a 11 and 17yr old.

The resort map shows you each section within the Sheraton Vistana Resort. There are different style buildings and floor plans throughout. You can find that info on the thread posted above.

I have stayed numerous times and only in Fountains. I request it each time. We like the style of buildings, the interior designs, the easily access to the pool we like etc. We actually requested our first time after studying the resort on the thread here.

I personally like the Vistiana Villages better as it's a smaller resort than the Vistiana Resort (which makes for easier exiting if you're heading out to Disney most days).

And I always request the Key West area

Just to add that it really doesn't matter. The two listings in RCI are more related to the types of ownerships that were sold years ago than to the actual sections. Take whichever comes up. Fountains Villas gives you a much better chance of being placed in Fountains I or II, but you may be placed elsewhere in the resort. Regular Vistana can certainly get you placed in any section of the resort. The biggest difference is that you will not find any 1BR villas in the Fountains listing; these villas are found only in Lakes and Cascades. Read through some of the linked thread above to figure what section you might like, then make a request for that section before arrival. Each section is different, each with its pros and cons.

Both are great, so I don't think it really matters. We've stayed at four different sections of the resort over the years (once at Fountains I). I liked them all (no complaints whatsoever). Gina, a frequent poster, on this board, owns at Fountains and reported that some of the buildings in that section have gone thru a remodel too that is really great (so some units there are probably the most up to date in the entire resort). Fountains is her favorite section, and it's lovely. In general, though, the entire resort does a pretty good job of keeping things nice.

I was debating the same thing (Fountains or general section trade) and ended up doing a trade to the general section, but mostly I think because I have my dad with limited mobility with me and thought in the larger Village area there would be more options with ground floor and some sections with elevators too that could accommodate him. I'm sure that would have worked for Fountains too. In my thoughts too in my picking general is I will have some 20 somethings with me who I could see walking to different sections to check out the entire resort, and I think that might be easier in the main area. We also like to play tennis at the clay tennis courts at the Courts and will do that multiple times during the week, so it might be nice for us to get one of the sections right next to the courts. (We are a big tennis playing family FYI.). But except for accommodating my dad, really and truly these others things are nice, but are no big deal.

I think you can flip a coin. There is not a bad choice. This is a great resort IMHO.

Thank you all for the help. The fountains option went away, but another popped open on the other one #0450 and I snatched it up. The 2 bedrooms are hard to find. It is a Friday to Friday week. So excited!!

Have a great stay and report back about your trip and the resort! Wishing you and your family a safe fun vacation!
