looking to exchange to orlando. need transportation to the parks for 16 and 17 year olds on days we don't go to the parks. what are some of the timeshare resorts that offer shuttle service to the parks.

lots of them do - but you have to pay extra.

from anywhere to $5 to $15 (depending upon the resort) per person per day.

It is generally cheaper to rent a car.

plus it is their schedule not yours. the buses can be late.

Well, while it may be cheaper to rent a car... your 16 and 17 year old will not be allowed to drive it so your options are to pay or to drive them.

they can't drive the rental car. i really need a shuttle service from the resort.

Sheraton Vistana Resort
HGVC (hilton grand vacation club) (both sections)

I know for sure have a shuttle bus.

disney vacation club offers great transportation to WDW parks ONLY.

the marriott resorts have one
Marriott's Grande Vista
Marriott's Cypress Harbour

I don't know if these have one but I think so
Marriott's Imperial Palms
Marriott's Sabal Palms
Marriott's Royal Palms
Horizion

For RCI resorts, here are some that I believe have the option of limited shuttle bus service that your older teenagers could use by reserving the day before (most charge a modest fee)...
  • Fairfield Bonnet Creek
  • Fairfield Cypress Palms
  • HGVC Sea World
  • HGVC International Drive
  • Sheraton Vistana Resort
  • Sheraton Vistana Villages
  • Sunterra Cypress Pointe
  • Cypress Pointe Grandvillas
  • Sunterra Polynesian Isles (I think)
  • Orange Lake Country Club
  • Cypress Harbour (Marriott)
  • Royal Palms (Marriott, from MOWC hotel)
  • Sabal Palms (Marriott, from MOWC hotel)

I don't believe the others mentioned are available through RCI, only II (like DVC/Disney's resorts, Horizons or Imperial Palms). Even if you don't know of a place offering scheduled shuttle service, remember that you can contact an outside shuttle transport service. Call the resort you get and ask whom to call. They may cost a bit more than routine service and stop at more hotels along the way than contracted shuttle service. But with a little planning, your older teens don't have to remain at the resort if you want them to be able to visit the theme parks on their own.

Also, if your resort ends up being very close to Disney property, your teens could take a taxicab to the nearest Disney location to your resort (such as DTD or Animal Kingdom Lodge) and use Disney transport to get to the parks from there. Reverse direction on the way home. The cab would not be using a parking space nor pay for the parking fee as they would if they drove to the theme parks. This may cost a bit more but at least it would give flexibility to travel when they wanted. If you'll be staying on Rte. 192, public buses will get them closer to Disney property, perhaps to a restaurant near the Maingate entrance, then a cheaper taxi ride in. If you're staying on International Drive, public bus/trolley will get them closer as well. All this requires patience, time and planning. But it offers options to younger people with no car.

FWIW, I would consider driving them to a DTD restaurant or a Disney hotel for breakfast, then let them take Disney transport for the rest of the day (resort and park hopping) until they make their way home by taxicab after the fireworks at night. HTH!

Hi - Orange Lake has a shuttle - I think it's $8 round trip. Something we do..(on the days that my hubby plays golf) - he takes the short cut up Sherberth and drops me at Animal Kingdom...then I take whichever bus will take me to the park I'm going to that day. At the end of the day, he'll either pick me up at the park I'm at...or I'll just hop the bus back to Animal Kingdom and he picks me up there. It works really well that way. Have fun!!
Barb in Texas

Barbara is it $8 round trip - $8 per day.

I have only seem per day prices. (okay I am strange - I would come back to the resort for lunch - and yes I know I am missing some of the best time in the park - but I have a BIG problem with the sun).

Pat;
I've never taken the shuttle but the web page (http://www.olcc.com/plan_your_vacation/transportation.html#tfol) suggests that it is $10. You could call Orange Lake and verify. I will be there this coming Friday but I don't know that I will have Internet connectivity (I too cheap to spend $10 per day for the Internet). I might go over to the Apple store and browse, check the disboards, and give you a response if you like.
