That is true of many timeshare systems, especially if you sign up for a "great cash deal." Those great deals often require attendance of a timeshare sales presentation. The thing that bugged me, and I have read this is true with many timeshare resorts, is they kept trying to get us to attend a meeting. I finally just unplugged the phone so they would stop calling.
The Wyndham owners site is back up and I checked availability. There was nothing for March 2015, but there is pretty good availability from about April 10 forward. We're thinking about going to Sedona this coming March was trading DVC points for an RCI reservation. Does anyone have recommendations for s particular resort that they have stayed at and liked?
I wouldn't let the sales process interfere with resort choices, just learn to say no. The best options in general are likely the Hyatt, Wyndham and Sedona Springs. 3 months from now is very short notice for such an exchange. The only availability I see in RCI points is Sedona Pines at a place worth considering. Nothing additional on the RCI weeks side, actually much less. I didn't look at other similar locations.
Or better, just say no to scheduling the tour/update. It's really not that big of a deal even at Westgate properties which are somewhat notorious in this field. Once you get out of the US it can get a little more harried in some situations, esp in places like MX.Learn to say no several times, matter of fact you don't really even need to listen. If you just say no about once per minute for the two hours that the one hour presentation takes you'll be fine.
