So, has anyone else here heard that RCI Europe properties are only available on a weekly basis?!?!?!
I called MS this weekend about the property in Venice because in the book we just got from DVC on the cruise we just came off, it was listed as a property you could book on a nightly basis...

But MS said about a year ago, RCI changed their policy on all the Europe properties!
Something doesn't seem right to me, but wanted to run it by you guys and see what you thought..

Thanks!
Lori

There are certainly RCI points resorts on DVC's list though not many and there is some availability for RCI points directly for less than 7 days. So it's not accurate to say that RCI changed the rules on RCI exchanges to Europe. There could have been a change within the DVC agreement but I haven't heard of one and I doubt it. More likely there wasn't anything that fit in and either the CM as blowing smoke or ill informed. The reality is that other than places with a lot of availability (Orland, Branson, LV, Williamsburg) or off season, there really isn't a lot of availability for under 7 days. Most deposits from RCI points resorts are 7 day increments just like weeks resort and most start on the Fri-Sun as well.

I do not see any RCI points resort in the Venice area though so that would not be an option there regardless. It's possible this particular resort change their status or change affiliations. DVC adds and deletes resorts for a number of reasons. GVTC has an Italian option but it's on the opposite side and south of Venice I believe.

Dean, Thanks! Actually, I was told for the domestic properties in the USA, you can still book by the night, it's only Europe that has changed. (I didn't ask about anywhere else). If you look on the website, the Venice location is not listed as an RCI Points, but it is listed that way in the booklet I just received on our Disney Cruise (Sept. 29-Oct. 6). That was why I was so perturbed that DVC was giving out incorrect information in a publication currently about something that changed a year ago.
I called again yesterday and was told the same thing by another CM at MS....that all RCI European properties are now weekly only.

I guess I could just go though the whole site and look at all the European properties to see/check, but who has the time for that? :lmao:

Is Club Cordial considered an RCI exchange? It has a separate point chart. And it lists a hotel in Vienna. The chart shows nightly point rates. But so does RCI.

Club Cordial is separate from RCI. I don't know if Club Cordial has anything in Italy...I didn't think to check actually...
Exactly, the charts don't mesh with what they tell you when you call etc..

Annoying. Aargh.

Club Cordial & Club Intrawest exchanges are through the Buena Vista Trading Company. They are part of the World Passport Collection like RCI.

Club Cordial Destinations:
Cordial Golf Residence II Pelagone - Gavorrano, Italy
Cordial Family & Spa Hotel Achenkirch - Tyrol, Austria
Cordial Sanotel Bad Gastein - Bad Gastein, Austria
Cordial Family & Sport Hotel Going - Tyrol, Austria
Cordial Theatrehotel Wein - Vienna, Austria
Cordial Golf & Wellness Hotel Reith bei Kitzbuhel - Tyrol, Austria

RCI still has nightly stays in Europe so if there's been any changes, it was in the RCI DVC agreement or implementation.

BVTC is DVC's registered exchange company. CC has a location near Tuscany but it's quite a ways from Venice, not all CC locations are on DVC's list. Vienna is a separate country from the question asked.

I placed a request through DVC member services for three Italian properties through RCI and one was in Venice. I placed myself on this list around April/May of this year and my travel dates were for June of 2013. My request was for a full week because the exchange would have been more likely. i have code 3946 as the Venice resort, Palazzo del Giglio-Residenza Alberghiera. I took myself off of the list two weeks ago because we are going to WDW for Easter- my daughter will be in the parade Easter Sunday, so I can't afford to do both.

Member services was very helpful in guiding me at making my exchange request. You have more success if you have a range of dates and more choices of resorts. That being said, I never had the exchange come through.

The Buena Vista trading company property is really in the middle of nowhere in Tuscany. It is a golf resort run by Germans. It would not have been my idea of an Italian vacation.

Buona Fortuna!

The question from the OP was an RCI points resort for stays less than 7 days, DVC does have the 1 resort in Venice listed for weeks only. RCI has 7 resorts in the immediate Venice area and a few more not that far away.
