So we had to cancel trip for this year and had old banked points we had to move to RCI. Has anyone ever stayed at any of he three RCI options in Anaheim? We are leaving toward the Shell property ? Any guidance would be appreciated.

thanks

DH and I have stayed in 1-bedrooms at Peacock Suites a couple of times. It was fine for us but not anything near as deluxe as a DVC 1-bedroom. No W/D (although there is a laundry room in the building). Just a kitchenette instead of full kitchen, so we bought frozen meals from the convenience store nearby to heat in the microwave for breakfast. We bought passes for the Anaheim Resort Transit bus which stops right outside - you can walk to DL, but it’s over a mile and we weren’t up for that. Valet parking only, for a nightly charge plus tips. We didn’t use the pool, my memory is that it’s small and not fancy. No restaurants on site, but several are in walking distance or on the ART bus route. We’d stay there again, but we’ll try for one of the others next time - they’re reportedly much nicer and definitely closer to DL than Peacock Suites.

This thread from Timeshare Users Group might be helpful: https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/anaheim-peacock-suites-or-worldmark-or-dolphins-cove.268381/. And a brand-new thread re Dolphins Cove: https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/dolphin-cove-anaheim.307224/.

As Worldmark the Club owners for 20+ years, we've stayed at many times at the Dolphin's Cove and the Wyndham/Worldmark Anaheim locations. (So many I'm embarrassed to say ... like up to 8 visits in a single year??)

Dolphin's Cove (shared by Wyndham and Worldmark the Club), on Orangewood:
  • A former apartment complex from the 60's (?). Units configurations are: 1BR, 2BR and 3BR.
  • Units have been nicely refreshed and are clean/functional but are small and sometimes cramped depending on the layout.
  • Walk up stairs to the second-floor units.
  • Tiny patio or balcony for most units. No particular views to speak of.
  • Shared laundry for the complex. (No units have in-room laundry.)
  • One pool, one (?) hot tub, small put-put golf course and a community center/game room.
  • We walk to Disneyland from here ... but there is also a bus-stop for the Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) on the corner.
  • Parking is great! Gated access, park under a carport-like overhang from each building. Thus, parking is relatively secure, free and close to your unit. We have no trouble parking our taller SUV at this site.
Wyndham/Worldmark Anaheim, on Katella:
  • Newer construction; tall tower; purpose built as timeshare for Wyndham's clubs. Unit configurations include: Studio, 1BR, 2BR, 3BR and Penthouse (upgraded furnishings)
  • Unit decor is modern. All units have in-room laundry. The studio configuration is rather roomy and has a better-than-expected kitchen.
  • Four elevators. The two near the main desk get rather busy ... we often seek out the far end elevators (one on each end).
  • No usable patio/balcony due to the tall tower design. Some units face towards Disneyland ... but don't expect a great view.
  • Large pool complex in the center with two additional hot tubs on the roof. The roof area offers a great fireworks view!
  • Located next to the GardenWalk, an upscale shopping and dining venue. (Ask the front desk for restaurant discounts!)
  • We walk to Disneyland from here ... but there is also an ART stop right at the front door.
  • Parking is gated, multi-level parking structure attached to the resort towers. Great for small vehicles ... but has very limited space for tall SUVs on the lowest level. (We often can't find parking for our SUVs and end up on the street.)
  • This resort charges Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT).
FWIW, as a Worldmark owner, we prefer D'Cove for three reasons:
a) better parking for our SUVs
b) no additional taxes charged
c) lower point costs (D'Cove 1BR is less than an Anaheim Studio)

But ... if I were flying in, renting a car ... I'd prefer the Anaheim on Katella as it is newer and has the lovely rooftop hot tubs and fireworks view!

EDITED: I just checked the owner's page for the Worldmark Anaheim on Katella, linked above. I see that the property now charges $10 per day per vehicle for parking. Ugh! So, one more reason for us to book D'Cove over Anaheim.

Peacock Suites - converted motel. Fine if you are going to just use the room to shower and sleep. I hate the mandatory valet parking and the hard sell in the lobby for the timeshare. I prefer staying in a hotel over staying here.

Dolphin's Cove - converted apartment building. I liked it a lot, but kind of far to the park if you are walking. Some people walk to the Toy Story parking lot and take the bus from there.

Wyndham Anaheim - I never stayed, but imagine it's overall nicer than either of the above because it isn't converted from something else. It was a purposely built timeshare.

thank you all so much for the information, it was very helpful.

hey sorry to tag on just wondering how many RCi points these would cost if exchanging DVC points into RCI?

Your request, I believe, is how many DVC points are required to trade into the above properties via RCI? (I am deliberately omitting the reference to 'RCI Points' which is a different beast and not required in the DVC to RCI conversation.)

For DVC to RCI exchange, refer to the points chart attached: https://www.disboards.com/threads/rci-or-concierge-points-for-2021.3811203/#post-62259776

Edited to add: Assume 160 DVC Points per week for a 1BR unit; 270 DVC Points per week for a 2BR unit.

Just for fun, I logged into RCI through my DVC membership. If you have an active DVC membership, you can do this, too!

There is a 'ton' of Peacock Suites ... 256 units at present ... some available "per night." From what I saw, nightly stays start at 14 points per night; 1BR weekly stays start at 120 points; 2BR weekly stays capped out at 230 points.
