River Country, Discovery Island and the Pop Century's Legendary Years.
Run down water park, run down well... not park, and an unfinished hotel.

You can clearly see River Country and Discovery Island from the boat that takes you from the Wilderness Lodge to MK. It looks awful, and it's really sad to look at, it's a piece of Disney World that kind of died, and just kind of sits there for all to see. A boat driver claims that there are gators and large snakes on the island (People who work for Disney were trying to salvage usable equipment).
It's completely abandoned.
What do you guys think about it? Should Disney have tore the place down when it closed, so to avoid curious and daring people? I mean, people could try to get over there someday.. and well, that could be a mess.

When I stayed at Pop Century, I was right on the edge of the lake. I could clearly see the unfinished buildings, and honestly, it freaked me out to no end. They were so...creepy and un-Disney.

Last time I saw pictures of the abandoned River Country, I literally cried. Walt Disney would not be proud. :sad2:

I've seen the pictures of the Legendary Years. My uncle posted some way back in March from his trip (he's CanadianGuy... if I'm allowed to tell you that xD)
They freaked me out.
I've seen a video of the insides of the place.. it's awful. They do apparently use the back of it for like laundry services and stuff..

I am staying at Pop in Feb.
Last time I stayed there (July) I was them and I kept asking my mom questions about them I am pretty sure there was like a bridge connecting the finished Pop to the unfinished one.
So people could maybe walk over it?

That looks so cool!! I have never seen this or any pics so is it completely ran down because look at this quote..
River Country is still in place but is only available for private parties and conventions, not for regular guests. Even then, it is rarely used. There have been rumors that it may reopen someday exclusively for Fort Wilderness guests.

I highly HIGHLY doubt it's used at all. I've actually heard it's been rendered "unsafe".

It's like a decomposing fun land. :(

You're right, it's probably not used at all.
The park was closed for many reasons, and one being health issues. The water they used at that park came from Bay Lake (I think that's the lake anyways) and a lot of the gas and stuff that was coming out of the boats was getting into the park making it a health hazard. If Disney hasn't put anything up to keep the gas and such from getting in there, it's probably loaded with gas, animals, and god knows what.
I really can't believe they just let it sit there.

I love to learn aout RC and DI and the Legandary Years, they like really interest me, I love the mystery behind them cuz I don't know much about them.

I know. :sad2:

For some reason, it truly breaks my heart.

On the thread that inspired me (it's actually about the Legendary Years) someone posted a picture of River Country with a dirty half filled water tube floating in the water. It's just so sad. It's probably the fact that so many people had spent time in that park, people had fun there, people had memories... and it seems like leaving it there to rot just kind of makes it seem awful.
River Country was cool looking. If they were to rebuild something like it with more attractions and stuff, I'd beg my parents to take me (my parents always take the water parks out of our tickets).

Exactly. I actually remember being there. I was 9 years old, and I thought the whole "natural" thing was a really cool idea.

I'm looking at pictures from back in the 90's, and the place is packed. It really is sad.

I think they should just completely tear it down and get rid of everything, then start trying to clean up the land. Then we wouldn't have to look at it anymore. :(

The natural thing is a cool idea. I personally don't like the theme of Blizzard Beach.. I just don't want to think of snow when I'm going on vacation to FORGET ABOUT IT ;]

They could only tear down RC. Discovery Island is completely abandoned, and I believe is protected as animals have made their homes there, not only pretty birds, but snakes and gators, and if those are angered.. well..
