Ray Harryhausen has passed away...

For those of you who do not know, he was responsible for pioneering techniques in visual effects in movies. The skeleton swordfight in Jason and the Argonauts is amazing!

His work was so remarkable, the animators of Monsters, Inc. named the restaurant in the movie after him....Harry Hausens.

Harryhausen was behind the stop-motion animation in the Voyages of Sinbad movies from the 1970's. I remember them fondly -- fun Saturday afternoons at the theater with my cousins when we were kids. Another favorite was (and still is) 1981's Clash of the Titans with Harry Hamlin *sigh* which is dripping with Harryhausen's effects.
