Hold times are too brutal to ask basic questions. I have a few, as this is our first DCL sailing (in May) followed by a few nights at WDW.

What's the transportation these days from MCO to their resorts?
What's it like going ftom their resorts to port (once per say departure at what time ish? Bus goes to multiple resorts until full then port?? Do you get to port well before boarding starts?)?

Is luggage handling the same as it used to be with Magical Express, where it just shows up at resort, then on ship in our cabin, or are we moving it? This is actually important to know in advance thanks to hernia surgery....lol

We are having a Vow Renewal on board. (No one is joining us. If any of you are on board, come have some cake!!). Any tips/suggestions/input/advice? Our only 'guest' is our 12 yo.

Tia.

Nope. The company that did that may or may not still be in business, but they and Disney are no longer working together. You're responsible for getting your own luggage from MCO to your WDW resort.

I don't know the answer to the rest of your questions.

Mears Connect had replaced ME and you need to book it separately. The last I saw was they DO NOT do luggage transfers directly. I assume you grab your luggage and take it to the coach/van. I have only seen vans at the airport. DCL is still doing Resort to ship however.

They don't do any kind of transfer to the resorts ftom MCO?

Disney does not. Mears offers a bus service between MCO and WDW for a cost and there's another company - Sunshine Flyer I think? - does as well. But Magical Express is no more. And you have to take your own luggage from baggage claim to the bus area.

Meats always ran Magical Express so their connect is most similar but Sunshine Flyer looks more fun as a lot of their busses look like trains.

Congratulations on your vow renewal. What a great idea. Curious as to who officiates? Sounds lovely. Too bad about DME no longer running. Wouldn't it be great to have a monorail or tram line? There is transpo but you'll have to book it yourself. As someone who lost their luggage twice (once Disney, once in Africa) I only carry purse, backpack and carry-on now for a week trip.

Unfortunately, the days of WDW doing all the luggage work for you are over.

It totally stinks for people who aren't able-bodied & strong or traveling with someone of that description. I remember my very first WDW trip as a single mom. Knowing WDW would handle the luggage & all the driving was part of what made me confident enough to travel across the country alone with a small, autistic child. It was so accessible.

Alas, those full-service days of easy accessibility are over. It's all do it yourself or look at every step for someone to pay to do it for you.

It was actually an outside company called Bags, Inc. who did the baggage handling. NOT Disney cast members.

"Tomayto, Tomahto"

No.There is a difference. It was a contracted service and the people were not hired by Disney. The company went through financial struggles and almost closed and did not renew their contract. Hardly the same thing as something Disney provided and stopped.

I ended up booking Mears from and back to airport. We're staying at Movies night 1, then cruise, then Caribbean Beach 3 nights, so it was like two one-ways if that makes 3.
Disney transfers between port and resorts.

Sorry I missed the vow question. I think who performs the ceremony depends on where and when you have it. That would determine who is available. I believe they say "an officer" but no one specific officer is guaranteed.
Of course we are already married so it certainly doesn't have to be any kind of official. Lol

I booked for 3 people....dd will be 12 by then. $49 each way. It's fine...the other options I checked were similar.

I just pulled this from the DCL website.....are you taking transfers from Port Canaveral? If so and they raised the price then they didn't update their website. It should be the same price from the port to WDW as well...again, unless they raised the price.

Airport Transfers
Ground transfers between Orlando International Airport and Port Canaveral are available for purchase. Airport transfers are available on embarkation and debarkation days only, for $39 per Guest. We recommend calling (800) 951-3532 to add ground transfers in advance, as only a limited number may be available for purchase upon arrival. Please be prepared to provide your inbound and outbound flight details. Private transportation options, are also available.
If you have booked a stay before your cruise directly at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport and purchased transfers from the airport to the port, please call and let us know so we can ensure your transportation experience is seamless.
If you've purchased transfers, be sure to collect your luggage at baggage claim upon arrival at Orlando International Airport. Then proceed directly to Side B, Level 1 – Ground Transportation.

What ship?. We are on the Fantasy, May 14 and love cake.

Yes!! May 16. Look for the grsy haired bride in the ivory dress
Sounds like a plan.

Actually to expand on the backstory a bit, this cruise is celebrating our 25th (May 21, 2020 which was cancelled and rebooked for May 2021 which was cancelled). We are also cruising with a couple we met on the Disney Dream years ago and they are celebrating their 40th (which was cancelled in 2020 and rebooked and cancelled in 2021. My wife and I have had all the covid shots, plus the 2 boosters. Jim & Carol have had the shots plus 1 booster. We would like to get together if it works out timewise. We have 2nd seating. I will message our room number. Email will be from okwjoe.
