Rates This Year

Does anyone else feel like the discounts being offered this year (including general, postcard and AP) are not nearly as good as last year?

We are going in October. Haven't booked anything. Waiting on AP rates. Need two rooms. 4 in each room. Wanted to stay within a reasonable budget. Anyone have any suggestions?

It does seem like the discounts have not been as good, and have not been released as early as in the past few years. Keep in mind, though, that the past few years have been after 9/11-- there was a huge drop in travel after 9/11, as well as a decline in the economy.

Now, the economy is picking up, and more people are traveling. In fact, the airlines are reporting that the flights are the most full ever (given the fact that flights were reduced after 9/11, that statistic merely means that travel is up to at least the pre-9/11 levels)

It makes sense, then, that larger discounts would not have to be offered to get more people down-- they're coming with smaller or no discount.
