Rates for rooms in early December

We would like to stay at a moderate during the first week/second week of December, but were wondering when the good rates would be coming out.

I'm torn between

1. Waiting for the rates to come out and making ressies at that time, or

2. Making ressies now and securing a room, then trying to apply a lower rate when Disney issues them.

Any suggestions? Anyone have any experience with this?

You should definitely make your reservation and then watch the codes. You can apply a code to an existing reservation, but you can't always get the room you want if you wait too long.

Well you'll be booking during the Value season so that will give you the lowest rack rate available for a moderate. And the DC is offering 20% off moderates for that time period if you want to start with that. I agree you need to book now, you can always apply the discount codes when & if they become available. ~~

I've made my ressies for the first week of Dec. with the DC discount, and just hope something better comes along. We're staying (for now) at CBR, Dec 4-8 for $473.26 which includes tax.That's a 20% discount. Good luck in your search!!

Definitely book now so you have a room. You can get a AAA discount or DC discount for the moderates, right now, that is a little over $100 or so a night (without tax, I think). We have typically been able to get discount codes or an AP rate for the moderate, during that time, for about $89 a night. Sometimes a little more. Last year it was as low as $84 a night.

I agree too - make your ressies now. Codes will probably not be out for that time until around 3 months out. I'd rather be assured of my room and view and apply the discounts later. You can book now with DC or AAA for a discount and since it is value season, rack rate is at the lowest price.
