My dh just told me that after our cruise in Jan. we could spend a couple of days at Disney before driving home. I was wondering where I could go to get an idea of how much it would cost. I am not planning on booking yet but thought I'd like to see if there was space and also to see how much we would have to save up. I will probably call dreams unlimited to set everything up as they did a lot of work for me in Jan. when we thought we were going to be able to go and then we couldn't go. We were thinking of staying at an All Stars. Also, I thought there was going to be another All Stars hotel, what is happening with that?

Hi, I will also be there in January for the marathon. I had gone down this past January for the marathon for the first time. I have been to WDW 18 times but have never been there in January. I loved it. Except for the Sat and Sun of the marathon weekend, there were no lines. Even with the extra 25,000 people or so for the races, the longest we waited on Sat was about 15 minutes for Space Mountain (and that's because it was broken). The weather was a lot cooler then I would have liked, but it was all good. So I think you should have no problem booking. Plus, it's the value season so you should be able to get a pretty good deal. Hope this helps.

We have been at WDW for the last three marathons.
The first time we stayed at CSR. Then ASMo (Woody). The ASMu (Rock Inn). Set for CSR again 2004.
The last two Januarys we got our AS rooms at the AP discount rate of $55 a night (incl tax). Can't beat it.
They moved the marathon this last January to a week later than usual. Due to this it was much busier at the AS because of the cheerleaders.
Prior, we were just leaving as they were coming in.
Except for when they were leaving EARLY Sunday morning, they weren't a noise issue. But the AS was hopping, between the cheerleaders, marathoners, and regular vacationioners.
The resort was very quiet mid week. Towards the next weekend the soccer teams were piling in. And they were much louder than the cheerleaders. But still not a problem.
Interesting though -- this last January, during the week after the marathon, the Calypso buildings were EMPTY. We thought maybe they were doing cleaning and refurbishing. But saw no activity of that either. Those two large buildings were vacant. Near the end of the week a family taking up two rooms went into the Calypso. I bet they were wondering where all the other guests were! ;) :jester: :jester:

I've been the lasy 4 Januarys. It's value season so rates are pretty good. We stayed off site in a condo this year but I noticed code rates to be around $59USD/nt for AS. rowds are very light, hours are shorter but there were almost no lines! Weather is hit or miss, last year we swam every day, this year it was cooler!

Also, I thought there was going to be another All Stars hotel, what is happening with that?
Could you be thinking of Pop Century?
If so, construction has been halted indefinately. I would't hold your breath waiting for it to open...

Yes Pop Century was what I was thinking of. When is the marathon in Jan? We will actually be there the 3rd of Feb. to the 7th. We get off the ship on the 3rd. and will go directly to Disney from Miami.

The marathon is January 11, and the marathon weekend starts the 9th I believe.

Thanks ILOVDMB. Actually Jan. 10 is my birthday, but we don't go until later.
