We just checked & the rates now campared to when we were at USO a week after Harry Potter opened are over $200 more a night, We really like USO & the room key/express pass but this is a slap in the face.Damn the feral cats, people should boycott over the prices.

I've rotten rooms for $139-$179 using my annual pass. It hasn't been much different at all. It all depends on when you go. Check out the dates and rates threads and you'll see that people are still getting really good rates.

I got a pretty good rate for my trip next week. But it probably is more challenging.Since HP opened they are doing incredible buisness. No need to over-entice people if they are booked solid.Disney does the same thing. If bookings are solid, discounts are less

Not sure what you had for a rate in the past, but we have been going to Universal for years every Aug. and the rates for the HRH have only gone up slightly each year.

I think with the arrival of Harry Potter, the days of deep discounts are gone.I remember cheaper rates and special ticket deals. You rarely see those deep deals now, and they don't need to offer them..I will say that the Universal hotels are STILL cheaper than the Disney deluxes .I paid far less for this trip then I pay for comparable accomodations at Disney.I think the problem most people have is that Universal only has the deluxe resorts and pricing which tends to price out alot of larger families etc. I honestly can't see them building value/moderate resorts though. For one there isn't a heck of alot of room and the room there is is PRIME location ,which anyone who has stayed at disney knows..Costs more to stay at.The other thing is there is PLENTY of non-universal owned hotels nearby

The SMSM rates are finally back for stays less than 7 days! Check again and see if it works for you!

It's not a chairity, Lowes will charge what the market will bear via rack rate, then offer discounts.:confused3Appparently, room occupancy is up and they are adjusting the rates.

fyi, for my standard dates in October the rates actually dropped last year.:thumbsup2from the prior - our 1st HP trip.

If you stack the price of the U onsite hotels (especially RPR) against the same dates @ WDW at the deluxe hotels i'm willing to bet they still are anywhere from $100 & up less for the same nights without any FOTL perc.

perhaps you might want to look into a split stay onsite and spend the 1st (possibly the last) night of your visit offsite.

My october rate for rph only increased by $5 a night for this year.
same dates as Oct the year prior.

Demand is greater than supply, there is the high price.
BUT it is still cheaper than a week in other places.
I will pay it, because the value is better. :surfweb:
