Rate Increases? How do they effect you?

Not much really. When you look at the added cost compaired to the cost of the entire trip it is so small I don't even worry about it. plus this time the increase didn't effect us since we already had our tickets. I also saw where Florida raised the minimum wage, I'm sure this has a lot to do with the increase. Price increases are just a way of life lately, everything is going up but my paycheck.

doesn't affect me at all. It happens every year and actually a way of life in everything. Our dues for DVC went up also - a lot more than the ticket prices. Why get upset - you can't do anything about it.

I used to whine and moan every year as prices went up, seeing it (I think) as me having gotten a little closer to affording things, and then something nefarious coming along and putting everything just a little further out of reach again. I think around 1990 I got passed that and now I see it in the context of everthing else and it makes sense.

The big difference, is for folks who, like us, get the 10 day hopper, non expiring to cover multiple trips. That price went up about 50.00 per ticket, or 250.00 for my family. That is a major difference. The non-expiring option jumped up 30.00 per ticket and is the bulk of the difference. If you are buying an expiring pass, no options, then 5.00 is about the difference. Another 5.00 jump for pluses.

I agree with dsanner106. I bought the 10-day premium (no-expiry) passes to cover multiple trips and boy did the price shoot up, literally overnight. For a family of 4, that added another $200 to the cost of tickets. But in the grand scheme of things, the cost only went up about $3/day. It's the extra plus and big jump in the no-expiry addon that really booted the price up.

Thankfully, I had 3 passes already purchased at the 2005 price. I bit the bullet and bought the last pass on Saturday, still at the 2005 rate. So, we're good for another couple of visits.

My real peeve (and not really a big one) is the lack of room-only discounts to the general public. I understand why Disney isn't offering them but it isn't much of an incentive for me to book any kind of last-minute trips.

I think we'll see room-only discounts return if and when WDW becomes a less attractive place to vacation. As long as it is as great as it is now, and folks are substantially filling the rooms with the current pricing structure, there is no sense is offering additional discounts.

They aren't really affecting us much. When I look at the grand total of what we are paying for vacation, $200 doesn't seem so bad. Plus, I always leave Disney feeling like I got my money's worth.

The thing that's killing me for our next trip is that my son will be 10, eats like a bird, and now we gotta pay adult prices at meals :crazy2: lol

You mean there are no room discounts period, just discounts on the other things like dining you add to a room to create a package with?

With the large increase in non-expiration for 10 day tickets, it is harder to decide where non-expiration is worthwhile. Non-expiration is still worthwhile if the remains of that ticket will fully cover some future vacation. But if it takes two leftover tickets to cover one future vacation even if they do fully cover, it is not always the best bargain. Note that (for 2006) the difference between an expiring 7 day pass and a non-expiring 10 day pass is about $48. per day while a six day expiring pass with hopping costs $43. per day.

I have to agree, when you send thousands of dollars for a trip, $5 extra is not going to make a lot of difference.

The big picture, or big problem, is that business at Disney is booming (has been for 2 years), and I think that we will see fewer discounts, and higher costs until something happens that causes a downturn in attendance.

Same for us...the price jump doesn't matter much in the scheme of things. To me the cost of tickets increasing each year is pretty much a given. Conisdering what I am paying to heat my home a month has doubled since last year, a few extra bucks for park tickets seems like nothing.

Plus, like the Visa commercials say...having the time of your life with your family is priceless...

Wont really effect us at all. I have an AP, we always just get DH a ticket for the time we are there. Our Nov trip will be the first time we need to buy a ticket for DS.

But the price of the tickets did not go up much (in our opinion) and would not dictate the amount of times we go or for how long we stay.

We bought 10 day exp passes for our upcoming trip of 11 nights. Then the free hoppers and plus options were added. We were thinking that we would try to watch and see about saving 4 of the park entrance passes for another trip and adding on the no exp. However now with the increase of adding the no exp option so expensive, I think we'll just use the days as we can, even if that means only going into any given attraction (theme park, h2o park, or DQ) for a couple of hours. I don't know, we'll see how it goes. Where does the adding on the no exp break even? At 3 days left? Not sure how to work the math. We are a family with 3 adult tix and one child tix ( the one adult tix is for 13 yo and the child tix is for 9 yo)

They affect me about as much as gas prices and groceries going up. Don't like it but have no choice. You do what you gotta do and go where you like. We have seasonal AP's so we're good till next time but Disney is Disney and all things go up. Still in line with other parks and for what you get, I still believe a good deal. I won't do other amusement parks, even in my home state, used to before Disney snagged us in 1977 and have never been to Universal and have no intensions of going. Time to us there is time away from Disney.
