Ratatouille Opening Weekend Box Office

My DH and I took my younger sister to the movies to see Ratatouille for her birthday and we all enjoyed it. I agree though there wasn't many people in the theatre, we thought maybe that was because we caught a later show (during dinner time). Hopefully the word gets out and more people go to see it. When the DVD comes out were going to get it and so is my parents for my sister.

On this board there's a lot of talk about how Walt believed in quality whether or not it led to immediate profit. Ratatouille exemplifies this thinking. It's a breathtakingly good film and it's gotten sparkling reviews. I have no idea whether or not it will have "legs" this summer, but it will certainly have legs over the next 25 years. Wall Street might not understand the value of this, but Wall Street didn't understand Walt either.

It's good to hear all the positive reviews on this movie. I agree with you on the Wall Street angle and it was a good analogy to use. Disney has made a ton of money in the short term on making those terrible direct to DVD sequels, but in the long term it has hurt the company's image. I'm glad they finally put a halt to that practice. I'm looking forward to seeing Ratatouille with my family this weekend.
