Wondering if it’s possible to grab a boarding group at 7am for Ratatouille with an EP park reservation, then switch reservations to HS (assuming available) to rope drop Rise and utilize some Genie passes there before hopping to EP at 2 and riding Ratatouille after 2pm?

We had one person report that they successfully did this with Rise but so far nobody that I'm aware of has booked a BG for Remy and then cancelled their reservations and booked another park. I remember someone asking about doing it but if they did, I didn't hear their outcome.

I don't think they would cancel your BG but as @KristaZ said, there is a good chance your BG will be called before you're allowed to hop back to Epcot. Remy BG's don't seem to fill as quickly as RotR did so there's a better chance you'll get a lower BG and miss it if you decide to cancel and go to DHS instead.

I guess you could make a game time decision based on the BG number you get but I'd start watching the return times now to get an idea what time different BGs are called.

I suppose it's possible in theory, however, if you get a BG for Ratatouille at 7am, chances are you'll get called before 2pm.
Most likely. We did it 3 days and rode at 10 (BG11), 1(BG50) and 3:30 (BG80). You could intentionally be a little slower but then risk not getting one.

On 10/2 (second day officially opened), I had a BG80 and we didn't get to enter the real queue until about 3 or so. I'd track where they typically are with BGs before I'd alter any reservation.

We're doing Epcot on check-in day and will realistically get to the park (through international gateway) around 3pm. I assumed that meant not to bother with getting a Remy boarding group but now I'm re-thinking it.

I would try at the 1 pm VQ time. Trying at at 7 am, you may get too early of a BG and you can only do 1 per day. The BGs from the 1 pm release are almost guaranteed to start after 3 pm.

You have to be in the park though, right? So for us that won't work since we wouldn't be entering until 3pm and I assume BGs will be gone.

You're right, I was still thinking of 7 am where you don't have to.
I'd still try as soon as you get in the park. The BGs have been available later and might still be there..

For anyone looking for confirmation - I booked a Remy BG this morning at 7am, then switched my reservation to DHS and went there.

The BG was in the 50s with an expected callback of 1:30pm. It ended up being a little later, but that was a perfect for parkhopping. No issues.

(My goal was to be slightly slow on joining the VQ, but, in this case, it was a total accident. I set my alarm for 6:59am and had some kind of brain lock with 30 seconds to go - it was suddenly 5 seconds to 7am, and I was scrambling just to get anything.)

Though I didn't have to worry about the timing - I wanted to note: during my two rides this visit, I noticed that the CMs at the entry point were announcing "Now accepting Groups 50 and lower". Even though the signs say "Groups 40-50", they seem to be taking any called BG that day - it doesn't seem like they're enforcing the return window at the moment.

(I was technically a half-hour late for my first ride this trip, which was a low-ish BG in the morning that was called far earlier than predicted, and they didn't bat an eyelash.)

Side note, as a curiosity:

If there's a breakdown, the recovery pass for Remy is a standard pass (the old FP) not a deluxe pass (the old FP+), so it isn't valid for: ROTR, 7DMT, Frozen Boats, or Pandora. Weirdly, it is valid on MMRR. So, somehow, Disney sees MMRR and Remy as D Tickets. (And Frozen Boats is an E ticket somehow.)

(I tried to ride Remy on Monday night - 1pm drop, low 100s - and the ride went down for good at 9:30pm while I was in line.)
