Rapunzel with 8am Opening

Just wondering if there has been any experience with how an 8am opening effects the Rapunzel lines. We are doing 2 MK days, one with an 8am opening, one 9am. I'd like to try for the 1st Rapunzel show at 9:15. Am I better off going on the 8:00 day with riding FL rides until about 8:45 and then getting in Rapunzel line, or should I meet Rapunzel on a 9:00 day and go straight there at RD?

My DD really wants to meet her, but I really do not want to devote hours to waiting in line for it. Thanks!:)

My choice would be to go for the 9am day and head to Tangled at rope drop, just because it will minimize wait time without having to worry about how early you need to line up. If your 8 am open day is before the 9 am day, you can always try both days with the 9am day as your backup if things don't work out.

I would go on the EMH day that way you may have a jump on the other guests. Rapunzel is a must see for my DD on our next trip too so we are going to do the mad dash after our breakfast at CP.

Same scenario for us, except that it's DGD who wants to see Rapunzel.
It looks like we're going the same days. I don't think it's an EMH day (that 8:00am opening) - they just extended the park hours. We had to move our 8am CP breakfast to our second MK day because of it. My DD insists that we try to do the Rapunzel greet our first day, which is Sunday. I think my DGS and I will abandon DD and DGD at the Rapunzel line and go get fast passes and maybe ride something.

sorry...dumb question from a newbie time... ;)

Are you talking about some type of actual Rapunzel show,...or are you talking about a meet and greet photo op thing with her??? (if there is alink please feel free to pass it on to me :) )
DD loves her and we haven't even seen the movie yet!!!
thanks for any info!

We have the same "problem." One of our MK days is an EMH day so I was planning to do Rapunzel on our other day, but now THAT day has an 8AM opening. We are going to try and see Rapunzel on the first day because the crowd level overall will be lower. When I ask my 6 year old what her #1 thing to do at Disney will be, she says that she wants to meet Rapunzel. So it is a big priority for us!

I am curious too! We LOVED Tangled! :love:You have to see the movie! Even my boys liked it. Shhhh don't tell anyone!!! :lmao::rotfl2:

We usually don't do meet and greets unless we can catch them before the lines (we have a few times). Although I did wait in line in France at EPCOT about 10-15 minutes to see Marie! I love Marie! :lovestruc

Anyway I would like to know too if Rapunzel is part of a show/special attraction or is it a regular meet and greet?

It's a meet and greet but a little different that the other characters. When they first open the area, the first 20 or so children get to enter the meet/greet area where there is a table in the middle. Parents are asked to line up near the wall in the order of the orignial line while the children can color drawings of Flynn/Rapunzel with crayons. About 10 minutes later, Rapunzel and Flynn enter, they form a circle with the children around the table and dance around the table. After that, they ask the children to go to their parents who are lined up against the wall, they let in the remainder of families who were waiting outside the rope during the coloring/dance, and Rapunzel/Flynn begin the meet and greet one family at a time.

Also, our DD4 asked Flynn if he could show her "the Smolder", and he did!

Do the first day and have just you or your DH get in line for Rapunzel and then call the other parent to bring your DD (and other kids if they want to do the M&G) over. The CM clicks in the number in your party so you don't all have to stand there but they have an accurate headcount and can cut the line off in the right place.

But double check that this is how they are still doing it/allowing it to be done before sending everyone else off. Spring break crowds could change things up a bit.

That sounds cute! (and time consuming ;) ) Thanks for the info.
Are there just certain times they do this...and in what part of the park do they do it?

Thank you for all the replies. I guess we'll check it out our 1st day (8:00am opening) after we do some FL rides, and if the line is too long, we'll go straight there on the 2nd day at 9:00 Rope Drop. Just when I thought I had everyhting figured out, something new pops up that I realized I hadn't planned for. Thanks!

Steve Soares site lists the times for everything. His new site is:

This is what he has regarding the Tangled M&G

Rapunzel and Flynn Rider Play & Greet in Fairytale Garden
Daily intermittently 9:15am-5:30pm
Length of show: 30 minutes

We went last month during a very slow time. The line was crazy. You need to get there 45 minutes before the start time to be assured to get in. I though the guy was crazy and my kids didn't care that much so we didn't wait. However, every time we went by we checked and sure enough, it was "sold out" So if you really want to see it, be prepared to get there very early.

Agreed. We tried it on a quiet day (we rode Pooh 3 times in a row) and we were at the line 5 minutes after park opening. They were already beginning a line for the second show! Never did go back and try again. Hopefully they will soon ditch the crazy colouring portion and make this a regular meet and greet.

Very agreed.
I definately would hit at rope drop or you probably will wait an hour.
We were there last month and on a day when we waited no more than 5 minutes for any ride, this was the only line.

They only take a limited number of kids each time. (25 I think)
If they have time they might let one or two more in depending on how fast the line is moving but I wouldn't count on that.

That said we got lucky got in line and were told the cut off was right before us and they might add one or two more later if time permits.
So we took the chance and waited.
Watched the kids drawing and the little show from outside the rope
Only once the line was down to 5-10 kids did they agree and let us in.
So our kids were the last in line for the show, right before lunch break. And this was the greatest meet and greet ever.
They spend like 5-10 minutes chating with our kids. Never had so much time with characters with no pressure to rush.
Definately well worth it.

Rope-drop-mad-dash on our last day was the only time we made it without being told there was over an hour wait. There were somehow about 10 others in line before us (I swear there was no one in front of us in the walkways right after the RD ceremony). The line fills up VERY quick even for the NEXT shows, which can leave you waiting for an hour or more.

And for the person who asked "where" the M&G is, remember Belle's storytime area between the castle and the teacups? There. :)
