I know this has probably been said but on our trip to WDW last year we say a board for a Disney Rapunzel movie in the animators studio due to come out 2007. I'm so excited, thats my favorite fairy tale ever1 :cool1:  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :wizard: :yay: :bounce:

You might want to reign in a smilie or two. Rapunzel had been tabled at one time. I haven't heard lately of its status since the Pixar acquisition.

I do hope it makes it to release. The early concept art was really beautiful.

Not sure if it is going to be out int 2007, but there is definitely going to be a Rapunzel movie coming out. It was mentioned in the annual report on Corporate page on the official disney site, look in the investor relations page its on the top right hand corner. You can even see the concept art, even though its not traditional animation (which I prefer) the computer animation looks beautiful. I am really excited for it, done by some of the same artists who did Beauty and the Beast. princess:

Yep in my 2005 Annual report .

On the horizon ,Disney animation great Glen Keane makes his directorial debut with Rapunzel.

Side note they also have the next 2 books for the Fairies as well The Trouble with Tink & Beck and the Great Berry Battle

A word of caution.

After Chicken Little did far less than was expected/required of it, Disney placed all of its future animated films "under review". Several that weren't all that far into development were cancelled. With the drastic management shake-up at Disney Feature Animation after the Pixar purchase - and the expected input of Lasseter and the Emmory gang - the review is going to become even more "intense".

The buzz on Rapunzel is that it has a very weak story that was being propped up by a lot of fast pop-culture references. Exactly the same technique they used on Chicken Little, basically it was to out-Shrek Shrek. It's well known that Lasseter hates this kind of lazy film making and that, to him, story is everything.

The question comes down to cost. Has Disney already sunk too much money into the movie and how much more is it going to take to fix. Given the present state of the studio's finances this is going to be a real close call.

bumping an old thread :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I was looking for info on Rapunzel. When we were at WDW last Spetember, we saw at MGM Animation the poster for Rapunzel that definitely said "coming 2007." My 2 DDs were thrilled. Now I see talks on another thread of a Tinkerbell movie coming to theatres in 2007.

Does that mean Rapunzel is officially cancelled? That seems like too much "girl" for one Disney year :confused3 Especially, if the consumer material will be competing with each other.

Actually, someone gave me a link to the film website a while back. It said 2009 was the release :guilty:

Well, at least it's not cancelled :) That will make my DD 9 at the time. Here's hoping she's still into Disney Princesses -- I Don't even want to go there :scared:

I agree with AV on this. I am also under the impression that ALL of these projects are being reviewed. If something official has not come out since the PIXAR deal, consider it...iffy

I to hope this goes through, :thumbsup2 as this was one of my favorite stories as well.
However, can't you see all the toddlers walking through the parks, tripping over their hair extensions!!

:rotfl:

I home it isn't cancelled. I've wondered for many years why Disney hasn't done a "Rapunzel" feature since she's the only traditional fairy-tale princess they haven't done. Although I'm wondering how they are going to pull off a full feature with so little plot to the story to start with. But hey...this is Disney! :cool1:

On the actor/actress bios on the website for The West Wing, it said that one of them was working on Rapunzel. I read this a while ago.

a Disney version of Rapunzel, that is
(It won't let me edit posts for some reason!)
