The holidays are difficult for me. An empty place at the table with the loss of my daughter. I try to do things for the rest of the kids and grandson.

Last weekend ds and grandson had me go to see Santa Arrive at the local train station as a fund raiser for local food banks and I smiled.

My back gave out but the smile and happiness of the grandson touched my heart. I just wish I could cry on Santa's shoulder some day and get the emotions loose....

But I had to share this fun Santa hello that made me smile.

I know this is not what Christmas is about. But, any emotion out of me for my family has been good for them to see.

:hug: I hope things get easier for you in the upcoming year

:hug:The holidays are not the same when you lose someone close. Some how you got to get through the days for the sake of the rest of your family. I'm glad to hear you've found some fun.

Does a church or mortuary service have a "Blue Christmas" service for those who are mourning in your area? I know our church puts on a special dinner for those who are down at this time of years. It's a tradition.

Hang in there, disneymarie.

I'm sorry.. :( I was never aware of the fact that you had lost a daughter.. Holidays can be so hard..

I am not sure about the services. I am not mad at God, but upset to be in church without her. I see her in front of me now with the silly Santa hat with Princess written across it.

I have the tree, a make due one in front of me on the floor with the 14 year old waiting for me to put it up. It is a one piece fiber optic, she wants the old one, the one I took down the week dd passed away....I can't do that.

But, having the grandson sure makes me forced into doing some decorating.
Last week he saw lights and took them out of the box making me run them along the stairs.

Today it was snowing since noon and really looking like a white Christmas Card. Normally a good day to bake.
Normally the day to get the tree up.

I know there have been Dis ers that lost family this year in the same emotions. I guess we try to put on the stiff upper lip and look for the moments that can move us. It took me over two years now to laugh at Santa.
Thanks for the supportive thoughts.
