At my 180 mark, I made all my ressies. Got some good ones! Including lunch at Le Celier! I have never been, we had a reservation before but had to cancel due to illness. So needless to say, I was pretty excited!

Now, 60 days out my traveling group wants me to CANCEL it! And guess what for? T-Rex Cafe. Now that it is on DDP everyone wants to go and is willing to give up Le Celier for it. We have been to T-Rex. I only considered to be ok. And I know that the reviews here for Le Celier are mixed, but dang it I wanted to form my own opinion! :rotfl2:

So I guess I will be ordering a steak at T-rex and hope it is as good as Le Celier, all the while eating with my dd on my lap as the storms freak her out just a little.

I just needed to let that out to someone who'd understand:headache:

That doesn't seem too fair, especially if your daughter gets scared. I'm sure though, that you can find something (hopefully!) on the menu at T-Rex that you like. Think of it this way--you're at WDW, so be happy! :thumbsup2

BTW--Go Wings! :goodvibes

Sorry for you! Lunch at Le Cellier is soooo good. You will have to plan another trip to get your Le CellierQ! ;)

Is it impossible to spilt up and you and whoever can eat at Le Cellier and others go to T-Rex? Especially if DD is not a dinosaur fan

My in-laws are coming with us this summer and DH LOVES Marrakesh but ILs are not food-venturous so they are going to Mexico while we do Morocco.. figure everyone wins and will be happy and we can meet up with full bellies later

That's a bummer! Have your crew look at the reviews and maybe they'll sway your way. Hope your situation works out!

Seems like as a PP suggested maybe your group can split up for that one meal. Seems like they left all the work (getting all the ressies) up to you, so I personally would stick to my plans and see who else would want to go with you - how enjoyable would it be for you and DD if she is scared :confused3. Also, there are very mixed reviews for T-Rex. My husband and I personally do not plan to go back. All that flashing bright lights plus the non-exciting menu was "once too many" for me. Whatever you do, if you do have to go, don't let them seat you in the ice cave. It gave my husband and I both an ill feeling - sort of like watching strobe lights - messed with our heads :scared1:. I have heard others say the same. Your choice was much better :cheer2:

I agree. I would tell them that if they want to go to T-rex then they can. But I have a reservation for Le Cellier and that is where I'm going. If you don't like it then you don't have to go.

I don't think splittling the group will work. Unless I want to eat by myself, which I don't. They want to go on a different day entirely to T-Rex, so it'd be hard.

My DD does get freaked out when the storms happen at Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex, but she is getting used to it a little more I guess. There is a Rainforest up in Auburn Hills that we go to, but she does end up on my lap. That's not the biggest issue.

I know they are going to enjoy T-Rex, even if the food isn't as good. So I guess I am just going to smile and nod on this. I did book O'Hana for dinner when they wanted Chef Mickey (ew never again).

Thanks for the advice on the cave, that is good to know. We have always sat by the bar.

Bummer! I pulled rank on my family and vetoed changing our plans to include T-Rex because I know it would scare my youngest. Rainforest Cafe (the same one you go to, actually... small world!) scared her enough that neither of us enjoyed the meal, so I don't want to repeat the experience on vacation.

I'd be a brat and not make the change, or if they insist on going themselves, do as others suggested and split up and make them do their own reservations. There is no way I'd go there in lieu of Le Cel.

Colleen, too funny. I grew up in Orion, although I now am held captive in Toledo :)

My daughter won't eat in the restaurant. She isn't terrified, but she just sits on my lap and colors and when it storms she covers her ears. We usually order her meal to go and then she eats in later in the food court. I hate having to do that, but it's my son's absolute favorite place so we end up going for his every birthday etc, and since our family lives there still it's easy to meet ppl there for dinner.

My only other option is Tusker House. Which I don't want to cancel either as it's one of the few character meals we are doing. I loathe Chef Mickey. And I also actually had to call daily for a month to get that Tusker house ressie.

Really, who told my family that they had an opinion?!?!?!?!:rotfl::rotfl:

Well, would have been nice for you to try Le Cellier. I enjoyed it, but rest of family didn't. Would be a shame to go there, and then have some of your party whine they didn't like it and how they should have been at TRex instead.

Trex... eh, not thrilled with the food there at all. First two times we enjoyed it (may have been I had a few drinks, which made it taste better!).

But question... it's on the DDP now? Haven't found anything on that.... it's really on it now? My kids want to give it another try next trip...

Awwww, that's so unfair :(

Can't you drop something else instead of Le Cellier?? Then tell them that was the only moment open or something....
:rolleyes1

I don't think it's fair to you or your daughter.

Sorry, I wouldn't do it. That one meal would have to be split. I wouldn't hold out for Le Cellier (though I LOVE it there) but I would hold out for a place where my daughter wasn't terrified. It's simply not fair to her.

T-Rex has been added to DDP and many other downtown locations as well , such as Portabello , Fulton( signatutre) , Paradisio 37 , Bongo's and HOB

Personally the steak at T-Rex is probably just as good as Le Cellier. Le Cellier is the most over hyped restaurant at WDW. It's mediocre quality steak at best. Any time the cheese soup is the best thing on the menu at a STEAK house that tells you some thing.

But I do know how it is about forming your own opinions, I tend to do that anyway.

That being said, when you travel with a large group it is some times necessary to compromise.

Let me ask you did you make all the reservation decisions for the whole group? I see your going with the grandparents in 2012 (that sounds so fun) so it may be time to work in some other opinions.

Granparents are only meeting us for a couple of days. My dad has a conference there, so they will be there for two day with us. And yes, they are in on Epcot with us.

Well I made a reservation for T-Rex last night. 8pm was the only time left. Blah. But I am ok with it now. And my dd will be ok. She isn't one of those terrified kids crying there. She is just a little clingy.

First, I'd be like "Aw shucks. I tried to change to T-Rex, but nothing was available. Better just stick to Le Cellier."

If that didn't work, I would go solo. And every course, send a pic to the others.

"Here comes the cheddar soup with pretzel bread for dunking" (click)

"Uhh ohh... Here comes my Canadian prime New York strip with Gruyere-Yukon Gold Potato-Gratin, wilted spinach, and vin rouge reduction." (click)

But that's just me.

And the best revenge, would be (if they still have it) snapping a pic of the choc moose dessert. That's right... "moose".

I was going to suggest this too. It hardly seems fair that you have to give up something that you have been wanting to do, I mean it is your vacation too, and since you have already eaten at T-Rex before, mind as well try something new. I would just take you and your DD to Le Cellier and then let the other half of your party go to T-Rex and then meet back up later.

For our upcoming trip we have a dinner ADR made for Teppan Edo (this is my DH's birthday trip and this is where he wants to eat for his birthday dinner). My ILs are joining us and they do not like Japanese food at all, so before any sort of drama started, I decided to make an ADR for just them at Nine Dragons (they love Chinese food) and then we will eat at Teppan Edo like it was already planned. Now we are all happy.

Good luck with whatever you decide :goodvibes

I just needed to let that out to someone who'd understand

1) You can still go to Le C Cellier.
2) Just remind the family
. . . who does the cooking
. . . who does the laundry
. . . who does the shopping
. . . who will do those when you go on-strike at home
