Ranking DVC's so far

1. OKW
2. OKW
3. OKW
4. All those other DVC's with the tiny rooms and tiny balconies.

I just wanted to add that my first post was all the DVC's we've been to so far. The ones I WANT to visit next, in order of "want"-ness are:

1. BLT-it just looks so cool.
2. AKV-I want to wake up with a giraffe staring at me.
3. BCV-want to try that pool.
4. THV-don't love the Archie Bunker color scheme, want to try it for the isolation feel.
5. HHI-Don't really have any interest in going, if I'm going to a beach setting, I want to be AT the beach.

I may have forgotten one..

Oh, the hawaii one um, Ko Olina? looks super-cool, that would be #4...

I'm an analyst, so I can't help but crunch numbers when I see some numbers that need crunchin'...

Assigning a score of 3 points for each resort that is someone's favorite, 2 points for each resort that is someone's second favorite, and 1 point for each resort that is someone's third favorite, here are the standings so far:

BCV: 26
VWL: 25
AKV: 22
SSR: 18
BWV: 14
OKW: 9
VB: 7
HHI: 3

A second way to parse the data is to see how many times a particular resort was someone's favorite. The rankings remain roughly the same:

BCV: 7
VWL: 6
AKV: 3
SSR: 2
BWV / OKW / HHI: 1
VB: 0

#1-OKW-Hands down-Room, Lush Tropical Feel, A getaway within a Getaway-Olivia's-Boat to DTD
#2-BWV-Best Feature-Proximity to Epcot-More Disney Themed-More food options-Arcade-Fun
#3-AKV-Very Dark but sometimes you just want the Savanna! Cramped Atmosphere-Best feature "Jiko"
#4-BLT-Expensive but the MK view is worth a stay, at least once!Maybe in 2010
#5-HHI-Still can't get in there, hope lives eternal!
#6-WLV-Enjoy it but seldom stay there, just like AKV I prefer a lighter decor!
#7-SSR-BCV-Did it once, done! Only stay if nothing else is available!
#8-VB-Alas, I'm from Florida and I can go to the beach everyday without using points!

Forgot THV-I think it would be fun to stay there with a big group! I longed for over 25 years to stay in the originals, so its worth a try!

I haven't stayed at all of them but so far...
1. AKL - I love the atmosphere and the zero entry pool. I also love that of all the resorts I have stayed at it is the only one with cherry pop in the quick serve pop dispensers.
2. VWL - THe theming was great at Christmas. I also love to bike to Fort Wilderness so appreciate the proximity to that.
3. Vero - It was a nice relaxing place to go to the beach but just didn't have the same Disney feel to me.
The next places that I would like to stay are...
3. BCV - going in May
4. BWV - I would love to be close to the nightlife
5. SSR - I want to try out a more unconventional set up than what I have tried in the past.
6. OKW
Don't want to stay at...
BLT. I am not a huge fan of hte Contemporary to begin with and BLT just feels so blah to me. I love atmosphere and I am not sure that it will have it.

I love this thread and reading about everyone's experiences! Thanks for starting this.

We have stayed at a few of the DVC's - but have not yet stayed at our home (SSR)!! Isn't that odd? I just love trying them all out.

I have to say that so far I really LOVE the OKW rooms!!! OMG they are so spacious and you really feel like you've gotten away from it all nestled in the beautiful woods and waterways!

But..... Beach Club is a winner for proximity to the parks and the pool is the BEST!

So I'm going to have to say Tie for First
1. OKW
1. BCV
2. BWV
3. GC (if you are going to DisneyLand - it's awesome too!)

I really enjoy this thread. For all different reasons we all have different choices of what is our favorite. No one resort is what everyone likes and that is why we have choices.

I love OKW because it is not themed per say but just a place in Florida. I travel a long ways to go to Florida and want to feel like I am in Florida. Also it has the lowest points and the biggest rooms. I wish the rooms were more updated and that they had a quick service other than by the pool.

I don't like VWL because I live out west and don't want to stay in a fakey west like resort. That being said, if I didn't live in the west I may like it there. I stayed in a studio and found it to be dark and small. We did like the boat ride to MK.

I'll play along....of the places where we have stayed...

1. BCV - location and pool are hard to beat...
2. OKW - biggest rooms by far, love the parking (especially with kids)
3. VWL - love the easy access to MK and the Canyon; don't love the theme
4. SSR - nice but big...
5. BWV - hated the hallways the pool and the parking; for us the only good thing was the location

Never have been able to get into AK or HHI. Haven't heard great things about VB (family member said the "nothing to do - sidewalks rollup at 5pm").

What the heck let me throw in our DVC rankings as well:

1.) HHI: This was our first DVC resort we ever stayed at and decided to join the club because of it. Based on that, HHI holds a very special part of our hearts and love the laid back family vacation time it gives us every year.

2.) SSR: Great work out room, love the large condo style feel for walking around and enjoying. Just a stones throw away from DTD where you can catch any bus to go anywhere on the Disney properties which makes getting around without a car much faster.

3.) OKW: Love the light colors and theme. Makes me feel really happy to leave an Ohio winter and arrive at OKW because it feels so Floridian. Wish they would improve the work out room at this resort though...too small and cramped feeling.

4.) BCV: SAB, Beaches and Creme (yum, love those toasted almonds) and overall theme of this resort. Have only stayed there a couple of times because it is not our home resort and is typically tough to get into during the 7 month booking window.

5.) BWV: Being right in the mix of things at night and walking the boardwalk. Wonderful food choices all within a short walking distance. The energy level of this resort is always up there and exciting.

6.) AKV: Love the animals but don't care for the overall 'dark' interiors. I am such a light kind of person that this resort makes me feel drained and tired all the time due to the lighting. I know it is all part of the theming but guess it just doesn't match my personality.

7.) VWL: Like to be here during the Christmas holiday time but other than that, same as AKV too dark and doesn't appeal to me for the most part.

To the DVC resorts opening up in the future:

BLT: Will probably stay here for the location and use of the monorail but not a lover of the Comtemporary. They have made some significant improvements at this location but had some bad experiences in the past and it is hard to shake them off.

VGC: Can't wait to stay here because it is the only DVC resort location at this time that we have on the West Coast. Sometimes just want to go somewhere different than Florida and this gives us another great option.

Hawaii: This is the resort I have been waiting for all of my life. I can't tell you how many times I have told DH that Disney should be in Hawaii. Now is it coming true....come on 2012!!!!

THV: I think these are a wonderful option for folks but probably not best for us. We usually don't have a car and I think getting to a pool and moving about will be hard staying here without your own transportation.

Dave, that's wild, because after reading through the threads my impression was that BCV wasn't going to be the favorite. Did you count the guy who voted for OKW three times ? :rotfl:

The race is getting interesting this morning. All the OKW fans must have been calling their friends to log in and vote. OKW comes from way behind and has bumped AKV out of third place.

Also an interesting race in the second scoring method. HHI has edged its way into the mainstream, and is now ahead of the Boardwalk and tied with SSR.

We've stayed at 4 of the properties so far, and the only one I have no honest desire to stay at is OKW, but will be staying at BCV for the first time in September. Of the four I've tried ranking is as follows:

1) AKV: Love everything about this resort from theming and views to the smell and food options. Also love the dedicated bus service. Nothing I hate so much as sharing buses with another resort.

2) SSR: Love the theming here, the decorations, the proximity to Downtown Disney, and once again not shared buses. Though with all the stops it sometimes feels like they are which is why I always stay in Grandstand.

3) WLV: Great proximity to MK, beautiful theming, relaxing setting, good restaurants. But the shared buses for the other parks I hated.

4) BWV: Great location, walking distance to Epcot, boat ride to DHS. Shared buses a problem, as is the creepy clown pool. What were they thinking?

:lovestrucMy favorite is Vero Beach :lovestruc:cloud9:

I should be one for VB!!!!!:goodvibes

We've only stayed at 2 DVC's so far (renting points)

MY all time fav (and one I hope to buy resale one day) BCV
1. BCV (stayed here on a girls only trip, Engagement trip, and Disneymoon!!)
2. AKV (we love it here...savanaha views are great! too far out to call home, but we will visit here again for sure!!!)

We own at BLT and can't wait to stay there in December & January!!
We also will be trying SSR for 8 nights (one night before our cruise in a studio, and 7 nights in a one bedroom)

Our wish list in order
1. BLT
2. VB
3. HHI
4. BWV
5. VWL

I'd like to stay at all DVC's at least once. I'd like to try a trip to the beach in 2011.

Lovin this thread! Here is my list:

1) BCV

2) BWV

Can't wait to stay at hawaii whenever it opens. Does it open in 2011 or 2012?
