Randy Pausch

This is indeed sad news -- my dear MIL passed away from pancreatic cancer in January. It is a terrible, devastating disease, and Randy Pausch had done so much to raise awareness of it.

I would encourage anyone who wants more info to visit the website of PANCAN....

Oh, that's so sad. :sad1: I'm sorry to hear this.

I watched his Last Lecture and I bought the book, but I haven't read it yet.
He was truly an amazing person.

This is very, very sad news...I was praying for a miracle for him and his family...

My MIL also passed away from pancreatic cancer, just 3 months after diagnosis (& 3 months after my wedding).

I, too, have his book at home, but haven't been able to crack it open yet. Now, it'll probably be even harder to do...

Prayers for his family...

So sad. His lecture was great. I am glad he did so much with his life in the short time he had. He gave the world and his children a lot of great advice.

I knew something was up as his website had not been updated since June 26th. He was an amazing man with a great message everyone could learn from.

I lost my dad to Pancreatic Cancer in Jan. I was following Randy Pausch's health developments and so sad to hear this. He is way too young to suffer from this horrible disease which is a beast. My father was admitted to the hospital in November, diagnosed in December and passed away in Jan. We are all so sad and still numb from this. He was admitted with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer which had spread to his lungs. I pray they find a cure or proper screening techniques for this disease. By the way, my father never smoked, drank and was a vegetarian. I highly recommend The Last Lecture (book). It was a great read and I pray his family finds the strength to deal with the loss. Also, Randy Pausch was a big Disney fan - he used to be an Imagineer.

Our local news did a special tribute to him today on the 12:00 pm telecast, since that he was an admired Carnegie Mellon Univ. professor. It's a sad day.

I read his book, and it's stayed with me....here's to being a Tigger vs. an Eeyore. Rest in peace Randy. I'm praying for his wife and children.

That is sad...I really admired him.

"I mean I don't know how to not have fun. I'm dying and I'm having fun. And I'm going to keep having fun every day I have left. Because there's no other way to play it, You just have to decide if you're a Tigger or an Eeyore. I think I'm clear where I stand on the great Tigger/Eeyore debate. Never lose the childlike wonder. It's just too important. It's what drives us."

I just saw the viedo of this "Last Lecture". He was a Disney Imagineer. I didn't know that.

But, I agree with him. I try to live each day to the fullest. I also try to have fun as much as possible because life is very short. That's why we bought DVC. I want to enjoy Disney as much as I can.

I also am privilaged to spend my time talking to all of you. Thanks for the conversation.

Wow! I'm stunned as well. I have been checking his website weekly for updates. No matter how much time passed between updates, when he did finally post one, they were always so optimistic.

I find that (for me) I have a habit of immerging myself in the fantasy of all that is Disney so that I don't have to deal with the darkness that also come along with life. I just pray that when ever I'm pulled away from this life and all the people that have been a part of it, I'll have the truest inner joy that it must take to smile with my last breath.

Via iPhone ......While wiping tears off my screen:-(

That's why we joined DVC too. Isn't it the best thing? :cool1:
