The primary home uniform for the Boston Red Sox is white with red piping around the neck and down either side of the front placket and "RED SOX" in red letters outlined in blue arched across the chest. This has been in use since 1979, and was previously used from 1933 to 1972, although the piping occasionally disappeared and reappeared. An alternate home uniform jersey is red and worn with white pants. "RED SOX" is displayed across the chest in blue lettering outlined in white. The team wears red undershirts or sweatshirts and solid red stockings at home. There are red numbers, but no player name, on the back of the home uniform.

On December 11, 2008, the Red Sox unveiled their new road uniforms, as well as alternate home and road uniforms, to be worn beginning in the 2009 season. The gray primary uniform features the word "BOSTON" in blue lettering across the chest and includes a "Hanging Sox" patch on the left sleeve. The player's name on the back, along with the uniform number, is in blue. The new alternate road uniform is a combination of gray pants and blue jersey with "BOSTON" in red lettering outlined in white across the chest. Both the home and road alternate uniforms now feature new alternate "Hanging Sox" logo hats, while the traditional "B" cap is worn with the primary home and road uniforms. No changes have been made to the primary home uniform. The blue alternate jersey will be worn for all Friday road games, and the red alternate jersey for all Friday home games, according to NESN.

For the St. Patrick's Day game, the Red Sox wear bright green jerseys with "RED SOX" in white letters outlined in red across the front and the "Hanging Sox" logo is displayed on the left sleeve. While the other uniforms all use blue caps, this alternate uses a green one matching the uniform shirt. This uniform made its regular season debut on April 20, 2007 to honor former Boston Celtics coach, general manager and president Red Auerbach, who died during the previous off-season. A similar green uniform was worn June 20, 2008 to celebrate the recent Celtics victory over the L.A. Lakers in the NBA Finals. The uniforms had a white stripe down the side and the team wore their normal navy caps. Additionally, the Sox wore a variation of the standard uniforms for Earth Day 2009. The uniform featured a white pullover shirt with a red under shirt and the team name in green. The uniform trim featured green piping along the pants and was finished out with the traditional red socks. Lastly, the hanging Sox logo was modified to feature a green recycling symbol around the logo.

From 1936–2002 (with the exception of the 1974 alternate home uniform), the club sported blue undershirts or sweatshirts and tri-colored stirrup stockings, with a red anklet and two white stripes on a navy blue background on the upper sock. In 1974, the team wore red sweatshirts (and solid red stirrups) at home and traditional blue sweats with tri-colored stirrups on the road. Since 2003, the team has worn all-red stockings with both their home and away uniform sets, along with red sweatshirts, with one exception: as part of the 2009 logo and uniform redesign, the Red Sox initially wore solid blue stockings and sweatshirts with their road uniforms. The changes drew some criticism from fans for being too similar to the Yankees' uniforms, and the team switched back to red sweatshirts and stockings after their first road trip and the remainder of the season. While Curt Schilling notably wore stirrup stockings during his Boston career, most players have abandoned stirrups for full socks.

81 All-Star Games have been played (including two games in 1959-1962), with the National League winning 41, the American League 38, and 2 ties. The All-Star Game has seen several "eras" in which one league tended to dominate. From 1933 to 1949, the American League won 12 out of the first 16. The National League dominated from 1950 to 1987, winning 33 of 42 with 1 tie. This included a stretch from 1963 to 1982 when it won 19 of 20, including 11 in a row from 1972 to 1982. Since 1988 the American League has dominated, winning 18 of 23 with 1 tie, including a 13 game unbeaten streak (12-0-1) from 1997 to 2009. The National League ended their 13 year drought with a 3 - 1 victory in 2010.

As of the 2010 All-Star Game, the cumulative run totals for all 81 games played was 679 — closely split between the leagues — with 340 runs for the American League and 339 for the National League.

The longest All-Star Game — in terms of innings — lasted 15 innings, which has occurred twice: 1967 and 2008. The longest game — in terms of time — was 2008, with a total time of 4 hours and 50 minutes.

american league ftw :')
