Hi everyone! We are in Georgia, spending the night on the way home from a wonderful trip to WDW. What can I say? It was hot and crowded and crazy but we had a BALL... Stayed 11 nights and that was great. I ALMOST got to do everything I wanted to!

We first stayed 5 nights at PO-FQ. This was paid for largely with Disney Visa reward dollars, so I was pleased from the get-go. We had a room that was on the one end, practically in Old Key West. The room was new and nice, nicely furnished and very clean. We had a great housekeeper. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the grounds and pool. The kids and I agreed that the "scary faces" in the food court are horrible and give the scary clown at Boardwalk pool some serious competition. Other than the faces, the resort was really great.

One night we abandoned our room at PO and went to Vero. It was a great "extra" for us, as we live nowhere near any ocean. Walking into the lobby is great as you can see right thru the glass doors to the beautiful blue water. The resort is airy and sunny and very bright, and the grounds are lush and green. I can't imagine how it looked before the hurricane because it is sure pretty now. We had lunch at Shutters and after that our room was ready. We had a 4th floor right in the Inn, near the elevators -- very convenient. We went to the beach for a while and then hit the pool, which was as warm as a bath. The kids enjoyed the slide. We just hung out and enjoyed the views that evening. The next morning the kids hit the beach early for "Turtle Troop," and helped get baby sea turtles into the ocean with a biologist from Animal Kingdom. This was a huge hit... The kids could not stop talking about all the cute little baby turtles. After this we took some photos and headed back to WDW. We took the Turnpike route down and 95 going back; both were fine and it took less than 2 hours each way.

When we got back from Vero my parents arrived on Magical Express and the next morning we moved over to Beach Club Villas. We had two studios. We asked them to put my parents close to the lobby and they got room 222. I was assigned to 263, with that gorgeous view of the service road. This room is about a mile from the lobby so every time I did that walk I kept thinking of all the great cardio benefits (necessary after many Mickey head bars). The rooms were both in perfectly good shape, very comfortable. Our room was close to parking so we could get our van and then pick my Mom up in the front, which made life easier for her. The lobby and grounds are gorgeous and we enjoyed SAB every afternoon. While the pool was busy,we always got a chair or two and everyone seemed pleasant enough -- I saw no battles over chairs or anything. We had a great dinner at Cape May, a few lunches at Beaches & Cream, and some quick meals at Hurricane Hannah's. The Marketplace had a great supply of snacks and goodies, and the gelato (lemon!) was to die for... Like the Italian Ice of my childhood. Overall we thought the resort was top-notch. My family LOVES Old Key West, but we agreed that BCV, while very different, is quite wonderful. I am now glad that we own our points there.

I met a DIS-er in a Poly gift shop. I recognized her from her signature, which includes her photo. It was Fantasia, and I ran up to her and accosted her with "Aren't you on the DIS?" She and her children were lovely and we took some pics, which she has threatened to post upon her return. It was fun to see someone from the Boards.

We encountered no problems with rudeness or anything like that. The CM's at all 3 resorts were very polite and nice and went out of their way to accommodate my parents. At BCV they actually came and put in a new thermostat for Mom. She has asthma and needs her room frigid and they had no problem replacing the original thermostat. After that her room was freezing! My family was very comfortable and never found our room to be hot. I think this might be because we get up in the night to go to the bathroom, and the A/c kicks on. I did think of the "hamster on a balloon" thread from way back, when we all discussed how to keep the thermostats running!

On a sad note, my little son lost his bag at BC -- we think he put it on a chair to feed the ducks, and then failed to pick it back up. In all the excitement, I did not notice. Someone turned in the bag, which contained his older Gameboy, but the little ziploc bag - with ALL his Gameboy games -- was gone. It breaks my heart to think that someone kept a bag that obviously belonged to a little kid... Oh, well. He learned a very expensive lesson about keeping an eye on his stuff. We plan to hit Ebay to try to replace some of the games.

So, overall a great trip. Lots of fun, great meals, nice people. Beautiful resorts, a peek at the ocean, Mickey head bars. Lots of sun, little rain. A big thumbs up!Next week the 11-month window opens at BCV for July 2006, an I will be on the phone to Member Services!

I assume you called Disney's lost and found. If you have not yet done that, you should. If your son's pack is turned in, they will ship it to you free. It's worth a shot.

Thanks for the report - enjoyed reading it. Sorry your DS lost his games.

Best wishes -

Thanks for your report. I enjoyed reading about your trip. Sounds like your family has many wonderful memories to tide them over until the next trip. Sorry your son lost his games, maybe this is an opportunity for some new favorites.

Thank you for all the great info in your report! Glad to hear it's still possible to have a wonderful trip in the heat of the summer. We will be stuck in "summer mode" for the next few years and I've been worried about our trip in 2006. How did your parents deal with the heat in in the parks?

thanks for reporting. I get what you say about the scary masks at POFQ. I think this resort is better for kids age 6+ which is the age my dds were when we stayed there. I would love to stay at vero one day. You couldnt have mistaken Fantasia I have seen her photos and she is gorgeous!!

Colleen,

Glad you had a good time!!! Can't wait to hear more when you email me.

Glad you liked Vero
We love it too.
Cant wait to go back one day

Thanks for the great report. BVCs is one of my "homes" and I love to hear that people enjoy themselves when there!

Glad you had a great time! I enjoyed reading your trip report. Thanks for posting! :)

Great report. SOunds like a great vacation. Sorry your son lost his games...

What a wonderful trip!

POFQ is actually my favorite moderate right now and I would love to do a combo trip like that at some point.

You must be good at keeping things organized to pack a couple of times and keep your trip running smoothly.

Sorry for your son's games. Sadly, I am sure the person that turned it in (probably a Disney employee) was not the one that found it. The person that originally found it was probably a younger person. I might still check with lost and found and see if anything shows up.

Thank you for sharing!

Laura

Hi everyone. Yes, Lost & Found at Beach Club was great. When I asked at the guest services desk, the man remembered the little bag. There is a nice woman who runs the Lost and Found, and she immediately knew which bag I was describing, but sadly, no games in it. I guess someone made off with the games and then some other, kinder soul, handed in the bag with the older Gameboy in it. The Lost and Found lady has promised to call me if the games DO show up.

It sure did take a lot of planning to move throughout this trip and not go crazy. What made it easier was that we did not check out of PO-FQ when we went to Vero -- we just left our room empty one night. I am a frugal person but this was easy to justify as the 5 nights at FQ had only cost me about $200 total after my Disney Visa Rewards were applied. So we just packed an overnight bag for Vero. We were going to just visit for the day, but Shan (Lenshanem) suggested an overnight. I owe her a thankyou as we had such a nice time.

I was so thrilled with FQ that I think we will do a similar trip next summer -- a few nights there followed by BCV. It made a nice combination and you can't beat the Mods for the value. The FQ room was $99 per night (AP rate) and while smaller, was every bit as nice as the BCV room. The addition of the fridge has made the Mods an even better option. We ate breakfasts in our room and this saved time AND money. :)

I enjoyed reading about your trip, especially the baby turtles. We were there when the groups were just discovering true nests or false ones. I'm glad to hear about some hatchings! :paw:

We had a very similar loss this trip. My son, 9 lost two important things. First he put his pressed penney book down in the waiting area of Circle of Life. We realized it within 10 minutes and went back, asked everyone there, etc. etc. No book... he was crushed!

Then his Game Boy Advance fell out of his little bag he was carrying because he forgot to zipper it. As we came off Pirates, we circled back to get it... gone! Luckily he only lost one game....

Big losses for our little man. It still amazes me that someone takes from a child.... The game in the Game Boy was Nemo.. clearly that of a young kid. ANd who doesn't ask there kid where they got the new game boy when they suddenly have a new one????

Oh well.. So sorry about your son too!

Patricia, I thought the same thing... Many of Ian's games were little kid games, like Peter Pan and such. How could someone not return them? I left our digital camera last year, though -- actually my parents' NEW one, that cost close to $400, and someone turned it in! So you never know... Someone was kind enough to hand in the bag and the older Gameboy. As it happened on the beach (we think) for all we know the ducks made off with the games!

Our boys need fanny packs! Sooner or later a little boy will lose something. Before next trip we will get him a smallish fanny pack. We actually looked before we traveled, for this very reason, but Target only had one that was way too big. I told him if we can't find one BEFORE the trip, we'll get one once we get back to WDW. Live and learn. :guilty:
