This trip was a little different for us in a lot of ways. To start with we usually only go in January for the races so this was a different time of year for us. We are planning to go 3 times a year now.
Normally we do a package with room, park passes and Disney Dinning Plan, (DDP). This time we took the annual pass and Disney Dinning Experience, (DDE) card route.
The annual pass started the first day we used it even though we bought it in July. So for a year from Oct 23 we can get into all the parks as often as we wish, it's like the best park hopper. It is also good for a 10% discount at the DTD World of Disney store. Disney runs room only specials for the AP holders also.
The Disney (DDE) card was accepted at all the sitdown restraunts through out the parks. It saves 20% off the bill including off drinks. The down side is it doesn't save on places that are not Disney owned like the Swan/Dolphin restraunts and the walk up counter service places. You can use it for up to ten people also. We liked the freedom of not having to follow a regular eating schedle like we did with the DDP.
Erica and I were really looking forward to meeting the WISH folks we hadn't met yet and actually spend some time geting to know them. We have made some good friends already. For those of you who haven't introduced yourself to the group, DO IT.
You get to meet and get to know some extremely interesting people. When you are at a gathering, you're not a Doctor, Lawyer or Indian Chief, you're WISH Team and a person who wants to get as much fun out of life as there is to get.
The Dinner Vic ram rodded and the mini golf were great. Wonderful ideas. Vic will you do another dinner reservation for the group in January?? The golf was Linda's idea, it was so much fun, although it didn't do a thing for my reputation of dignity and shyness.
The race had a few bugs to iron out but the overall impression was that it was an awesome experience. We had planned to walk in a group and that didn't work out but we did get to walk with several small groups. I think everyone had someone to walk or run with.
We are going to plan our after race party better next time. One of the problems was that the drink booths would only take cash. Several WISHers only took their room key to charge with.
One of the best parts of the evening was the experience. Some of our WISH pretty princesses were extra special cute: DianeL and her Pal Mickey dressed in ToT elevator operator uniforms was just precious. Linda was so cute trotting along and dancing at the same time. Lots of the princesses were at their wickedly witty best, I laughed so much that night.
There were displays of courage and determination with some of the guys who were new at the racing and having a difficult time of it but not giving up. John surprised everyone with his performance, he finished in an awesome time. Looks like we got him hooked now, hee hee.
The wandering mental patients were a nice touch although I'm probably nuttier than any of them. I would like to have seem more stuff like that on the course. Maybe a warewolf or something.
All in all I think it was totally awesome and if they have it next year Erica and I will be there.
How about the rest of you? Wanna share random thoughts about the trip?
