Random Questions About Onboard Activities, Breakfast, and Cabanas!

Hi everyone! I have a few random questions for the experts out there

1. I noticed there are several options for breakfast...buffet at Cabanas, buffet at EG, and sit down at Royal Palace. It seems like Cabanas has the biggest/best variety of food, so is there any reason I should try the other two options (unique food items, etc)?
2. Why are the Serenity Bay cabanas so much less to rent than the other cabanas?
3. I was looking at previous personal navigators and saw "Youth Activities Open House" and "Family Crafts in District Lounge" in the fun for all ages section. What exactly are these and are they truly fun for ALL ages lol? Or is this more geared for families rather than adults.
4. What is "Dream Quest"? It's listed in the personal navigator at 11pm on the last night of our cruise in the adults section

1) We only ever did breakfast in Cabanas so can't really say.

2) Serenity bay Cabanas are cheaper because it starts out as only being for 4 and is adults only. So because they are less desirable due to being adults only and the pricing is for 4 not 6 they are less.

3)Youth open houses can be fun. Really up to how much of a child at heart you are. The crafts are the same way. It can be fun just depends on what craft they are doing.

1. Breakfast at Royal Palace is quieter and everything is served so you don't have to carry your plates and find a table. It is also easier to get juices that are not in the Cabanas juice machine like tomato. Also, the eggs Benedict in Cabanas is not made to order, can be dry.

3. Some arts activities are great like character drawing and painting animation cells. We have also made cool ceramic coasters. Some arts activities are lame, just cutting and gluing. Ask at Guest Services for details on what the craft activity includes.
4. It's kind of a scavenger hunt and can be great fun.

1. We prefer EG for breakfast because it's a little calmer. The host seats you and servers bring your drink order to the table, then the buffet is scaled down but pretty similar. With cabanas I'm juggling the food, drink, looking for a table and its louder.

3. The crafts can be hit or miss but because you're at a table doing a specific project it's a good mix of families, singles, couples. The Open Houses in the Club are open to anyone but personally I felt weird in there without kids. That's just how I felt others may not feel weird at all.

4. Disney Quest is a game played with the other people at your table/general area (you're teamed up with them against other tables) and it's a scavenger hunt of personal traits + stuff people have in their purses/wallets. Some people get REALLY into it.

At the restaurant with the sit-down menu, the food is made to order, which I often prefer, particularly with eggs. We like to mix it up a bit. Sometimes we do the buffet, sometimes sit-down (same with lunch). Try them all and see what you like.

1. Sit down breakfast at RC or EG is also a buffet style but more quiet and they bring drinks for you. The Cabanas has way more variety though and sometimes it is hard to find a table. On the last morning you can go to your location of your prior evening dinner and they have an actual limited menu to order from. We go to Cabanas and park an adult at a table and have the others in the party bring the food. Then another one is assigned to bring drinks.
2. Serenity Bay Cabanas are for adults only and are priced for 4 adults and not family priced for 6.
3. We don't do the Open Houses and the activities are really a personal interest choice. I am told the drawing class is quite fun though. And the cooking classes.
4. Have not played that.

1. I preferred Enchanted Garden for Breakfast, quieter buffet. Lots to choose from still IMO.

2. Haven't rented a cabana myself.

3. I only ever saw Parents visiting with their children in the Oceaneers Club/Lab during Open House. Didn't goto the Family Crafts.

4. I'd like to know the answer to this also.

1) I did Royal...whichever is on the Fantasy (neither are my favorite, so I kind of block them out) for breakfast once... The server was not the friendliest (hey, I'm not a fan of mornings either, but I fake it when I have to), and it took longer than I'm accustomed to. Might have to get used to it now since I'm gluten-free and that seems easier...but it doesn't mean I'll like it.

2) Never saw the need for one. I'm low-maintenance.

3) I did go into the clubs on the Fantasy on embarkation day while it was open hours because it was more like open house and it was my one chance to go in and look around. It was fun once...doubt I'll do it again. I got my area pics. The draw a character classes were fun. Never did any other officially multi-age things (I say "officially" because I did a couple of things that were supposed to be 18+ but some people whined and their kids got to participate which slowed things down considerably).

4) Never did it. Sounds like something that people go gaga over on RCCL - I suspect if it is similar Disney's is a bit more...tame...than the reports from RCCL's even being "adult only".

I really enjoy the Quest game....I started a thread once asking what things folks bring to be prepared...almost everything is something someone has with them was the resounding suggestion, although, as someone who doesn't usually carry a purse with me on the ship...you might want to bring your purse to this event

example...a bra...one male team member has to put on the bra of a female team member and race on stage. Those of you who were girl scouts know how to remove a bra with clothing left on...those who weren't girl scouts don't donate the bra

example...shoe laces...you have to take them out of the shoes!

the participants do influence the fun level (like match your mate)...last cruise was FULL of Disneyworld CMs...so the competition was fierce! But the laughs were awesome!

Most of your questions were already answered. But I'd like to add that another reason the Serenity Bay cabanas are cheaper than the family ones is because they also come with less items.

The Serenity Bay cabanas include all the refreshments, snacks and sunblock and towels, and also include bike rental and the floats/tubes. The family ones offer all that plus snorkling gear and sand toys, and are for more people.

My 10-y-o and I did almost all of the Family Crafts on our recent Dream sailing, and for one of them I went by myself and didn't feel at all weird. We're both crafty people so we enjoyed them. We did
- tile coasters
- photo frames
- 3D figures (the first time we did Mickey and Minnie, the second time it was Anna, Elsa, and Olaf); we used our popcorn bucket to transport these home
- paper monsters

The upside to going to all of these, plus all the animation drawings, was that the CMs who run them also run the So You Think You Know Your Family game, and they chose us to play the game.

Thanks so much for all the responses! Y'all really are the best. Based on your information, I think I will try the crafts and Dream Quest. We're definitely going to try for a Serenity Bay Cabana, and I'll let the snorkler in our group know she needs to bring her own. Still not sure what to do about breakfasts, but Cabanas seems less appealing now that y'all have all mentioned how hectic it is! Thanks again

As others have said the sit down option is more personal taste. I am rubbish at carrying trays and drinks. As I travel solo I tend to go more for sit down but on some days I will venture up to the buffet to get a bit of a mix.

So I'm a solo traveller and have attended many of these activities! With the Open House ones it does tend to be families that go but I've joined in too - even went hunting for Stitch and read a story with Belle (I may be 36 but I love Disney so wanted to give it a go). At the family craft events you are more likely to find all ages but that shouldn't put you off the Youth Activities. Its also a good chance to be nosey and see the amazing spaces that the kids get to play in! No one will think you are insane (or at least no one will tell you you are) and the staff are really lovely and friendly.

Honestly I've always found them a lot of fun. If there's an "anyone can cook" family event you get to make stuff which is great! (cookies and cupcakes I've done)
