random pat down search at boarding gate, a first for me

My son was selected for seach at JFK flying JetBlue. This was as we were going through security. He was about 8 or 9. Pretty random. I stayed with him in the little area by the machines. There would be no way I would let ANYONE walk off with my child alone. I wouldn't fly if that's what it came to. We are driving this time but as annoying as the searches can be there really is no way to tell by looking at someone or by their name what their beliefs are or what they may or may not be capable of so if it keeps me safe then I accept these things as part of life now...except for walking off with my kid, that's a deal breaker.

Have seen them do this at BWI, RDU and CMH. Maybe I didnt see it at BWI, but the others I know for sure. Flying SW, it would suck buying EBCI, getting low A's and then be yanked for random pat down while all the A is boarding... That would make ya happy!:cool2:

since your boarding pass has your group and section...
"A9" for example, the people behind you are not to board until after you have...A10 should be standing behind you at the boarding zone, When I was searched, I was B10...my DD was B11...no one B12 or higher passed us up while I was being searched. In my case, I was not pulled from my spot, the TSA agent did her job in the line for boarding if that makes sense. If I had been pulled out, I would have not hesitated to ask her how SW was going to handle me losing my spot, especially if I had EBCI noted on my boarding pass.

This happened to my 11 year old niece... at the orlando airport last friday.
She started to cry...My SIL could not believe it.

and doesn't MCO have the full body scanner system at security? So they went thru that AND then a pat down, on a child?

They no longer do this when flying out of Toronto I remember a few years ago when flying with Air Canada my dad was selected for a random pat down just before boarding the plane.

Sorry, I am all for keeping us safe but I draw the line at anybody patting down children in the name of security. If someone is that hell bent on attempting to kill hundreds of innocent people that they would use a child, they will find some way, some how a way to do it no matter what security procedures are in place.

I did a search ( no pun intended) and found that MCO "will get the scanners in 2010" I have not flown in/out of there since 2008. Anyone know-without starting a debate etc...just a simple yes / no ( and mods, if you know and just want to pm me and remove this I totally understand) if the scanners are in stalled and in use or status is. I am just trying to prepeare if pat downs are happening AFTER a body scan is done....at any airport.
