So this is a really random question but do the beaches in Grand Cayman have wild chickens running around on them? I read some things that said this is common but the information wasn't recent. DH is completely terrified with chickens so it would make a beach day a no go for us.

Yes!!! I don't know if they are wild. I don't know if they have a lot, but there are many. Not just on the beach.

And... This one was in our cabana...

P.s.: Tell your DH to never go to Key West. They are EVERYWHERE!!!

Yes, Grand Cayman has wild chickens. They even can be found downtown, so if this is a real concern, you may not want to get off the ship.

Thanks! We have been to Key West and it didn't go great!

I wasn't prepared for this so I guess I need to research options. We did the stingrays last time so we weren't on the island itself that much.

DH's extended family had an egg farm growing up and he is now traumatized...:rotfl2:

If you have an excursion that picks up and drops off at right at the port, and includes only time on a boat, you would probably avoid chickens.

But, if you have to walk through town, for instance, to get to Capt. Marvin's, chickens are possible.

He would be ok in town I think. I am more concerned about them coming up to your beach chair which seems to the case. That won't be a relaxing day.

We had them on the beach when we were there too.

How interesting! We stayed at the Grand Caymans Marriott a few years ago (I think 2012?) and I don't recall seeing any chickens anywhere, esp. not on the beach!

Yes, they are on the beach, and everywhere else on the island. They just kind of roam around - and aren't really limited to just one area.

We took the DCL excursion to Rum Point in 2016 and there were no chickens on the beach. That being said, chickens are super-popular on nearly every island in the Caribbean, and we have seen them around in the towns and such.

We saw chickens everywhere during our last trip to Grand Cayman, the only place I don't remember seeing them was in Barkers National Park.

We saw them at Dolphin Cove, too, where we were swimming with dolphins. DH didn't swim, so as he was waiting for the kids and I, he caught sight of 2 chickens running around and fighting.
