Random Act of Kindness Tuesday

This is inspired by outstandinfarmer's thread on kind gestures at WDW and KNWVIKING's thread "Sometimes do you ever just hate people?"

May I take the liberty to declare today Random Act of Kindness Day? I am asking that my fellow disser's take a moment out of their ordinary day today to do something thoughful for someone else today. Maybe a person you know, maybe a person you don't. Then report back here to let us know what you have done. This will give us all more ideas on thoughtful things we can do. I think this type of thing is contagious.

Well it wasn't random but I just made lunch for teacher appreciation week. Just one big dish for 8-10 teachers. The class mom told me thanks because she was having problems finding someone to do it. I am also doing a salad thurs. for my others sons teachers. My random thing will be tomm. when I have time to breathe I will send a nice older sick lady from my church a get well card.

dragging my rump outta bed to do laundry for dw since i over did it yesterday and am really not feeling well i know shewas expecting me to lay in bad and do nuthin al day,, what i should do,, but i couldnt handle thinking about all the stuff she'ldf have to do after working all day up on a ladder ( which she hates) soo i am making supper, doinglaundry and trying not to over do it at same time will probably make home made bread in a while too cause she loves it and i have time..lol hard to do for anyoine else when i cannot drive, cant get out in sunshine, cant lift twist or bend,, etc,, all this tuff drsa dont want me doing

The house next to us was just sold and the new owners have been there cleaning. The owners SIL just came over half an hour ago to say that the gas pipe was on and leaking and she couldn't turn it off. I had her come in and we phoned the gas company to come and turn it off. Since the owner had gone to pick some stuff up, the SIL wanted to sit on our porch to wait. I sat out there too so I could help her to calm down since she was very upset about the whole thing. She figures she had hit the pipe while cleaning and turned it on. Anyway, the owner showed up and shortly after the gas company came and everything is under control. I'm glad I could be here to help!!

There was a lady at the courthouse today who was walking towards the elevator in tears. I asked if there was anything I could do. Turns out there was not anything I could do. She was upset because her son was locked up and it did not seem like he would be getting released anytime soon. She really just needed a shoulder to cry on, someone to listen and a few kind words. The sad thing is she seemed surprised that anyone cared. Took maybe five minutes out of my life.

Any other acts of kindness? Simple suggestions that we could put into practice in our lives?

Just had surgery Friday and I am not going to be able to walk for about 12 weeks! A friend of mine came over for about 2 hours to just sit, talk and help pass the time. When she realized that Greg would be gone this weekend, she told me she would bring over a nice big pot of spaghetti! I thought it was the nicest!!!
