We stayed here the 12th thru the 16th for the first time. Sorry I don't have any pics, but I thought you guys might be interested in our stay.

The good
-We requested a remodeled room and got it. New carpet, curtains, and furniture, with a new tub, sink and tile in the bathroom. My brother was there too and didn't request a remodeled room. His was quite rundown and not very clean.
-Our room was in the front of the complex, so it was a super easy, quick walk to the parks.

The bad
-Checkin and check out were a bit of a hassle. The preauthorized our card for one night's stay a few days before we arrived, then for the remainder of the stay, plus, upon arrival, then charged it separately upon checkout. So, at one point I had three pending charges for more than twice the amount of our stay. We shall see how it all shakes down with final posting. The staff was rather rude about the entire thing when I questioned their policy.
-The pool was no where completed despite the fact that they had claimed it would be done by April 8th. When we checked in, they had a date for completion advertised for this up coming week. There is no way they will make that date either. They are seriously behind. Nothing was offered to compensate except you could use a neighboring hotel pool.
-This is not a quiet motel, even for Harbor. The Restaurant next that shares the parking lot, Tony Romo's I think, gets deliveries very early in the morning, so you hear the trucks and their is an alarm on the storage room that goes off every time they open it. Depending on how slow they are to turn it off it can be going off for quite some time. This happens at all hours, day and night.

The ok
-Breakfast consists of donuts, toast, hardboiled eggs, whole fruit, sometimes a pastry and cereal. Cornflakes is the staple. There is also milk and apple and orange juices. Definitely nothing to write home about, but it filled the void until we picked something up in the parks. Keep in mind its supposed to be served pool side, which didn't exist, so the little hut was very crowded.

Will we go back? No. We will pay less to stay at Anaheim Plaza without the preauthorization issues and better service when we can't get the HOJO Ent rate. Maybe it would have been better if I had never seen the yet to be remodeled rooms and the pool was complete? Either way, we have crossed it off our list.

Wow, sounds fishy to me. I worked at a resort hotel for years while going to undergrad and the whole point of an authorization is to freeze those funds for your establishment. You don't re-charge the card upon check out, you use the funds already held! There is no reason why the card should have been charged AGAIN. What is the point of the authorization? So weird. I would keep an eye on my statement for sure. I am surprised your credit card even allowed all those charges. It wasn't unusual for a guest's card to dis allow multiple charges (for example one time a father was paying for multiple hotel rooms for wedding guests and after two charges, card was declined for fraud protection, not lack of available funds).

Thanks for the honest review. I also dislike when places don't disclose their credit card policies fully and get huffy when you ask. Everything should be above board when it comes to my credit cards!

wow- yeah thanks for the review! I was wondering about that hotel/motel.... and wasn't too impressed about the pics of the rooms. Glad I can cross this one off too!

So sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay.

I must say we had a much better time than you when we stayed there last summer for 9 nights.

We had great customer service and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We too were in a remodeled room and it was very nice.

I will agree that the breakfast is just ok. And for us the WiFi was iffy. But that was the worst part of our stay.

Too bad the pool wasn't ready. But, with any construction project delays happen. From what I can see, the pool will be really great when it is completed. We loved the pool even before the remodel and used it every day we were there last August.

When visiting any restaurant, hotel or amusement park....everyone can have a different experience. Sorry yours wasn't so great.

Wow we stay there everytime we go to DL. Never had that problem the CC and never had a problem with staff. I can't wait for the remodel to gets done.

Thats too bad that your visit was less than enjoyable. We stayed there in November and had a wonderful time. We didn't have any issues with the hotel or its staff. I found it to be an older but clean hotel with all the amenities our family needed. I didn't have any issues with my cc and paid cash when we left. I was sure to check my statement for my cc when we got home just in case something may have been charged but there weren't any other charges on it from the hotel. I think you may have just had a bit of bad luck with a staff member that didn't know what they were doing. Better luck with your next visit!

It's a bummer your stay wasn't good. I think with better attention you would of known about the pool. It wasn't exactly a delay that was unannounced.

Anway if you haven't contacted the Ramada yet, voice you concerns to Andrew. andrew@ramadamaingate.com

thanks for posting the review. we are staying there from 5/28-6/3 hopefully pool is done by that time, and we did request a newer room. hope our experience is different

Yikes. We're staying here in a couple of weeks. No desire to use the pool (I'd rather be at Disneyland!) but the other issues are a concern.

How early did Tony Roma's get deliveries?

When did you request an upgraded room? When you made the reservation or when you checked in? I wonder if it's too late for me to request now.

Thanks for the review.
