Ramada Anaheim Maingate vs Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn

Hi all,

I have a shortlist of three hotels/motels at the moment. In the order in which I am currently looking at them they are:

1. Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn - includes wifi, parking, breakfast
2. Ramada Anaheim Maingate/At the park - includes wifi, breakfast. (Parking just $5/day)
3. Sheraton Park Hotel - includes wifi. (Parking $16/day) - unlikely

I'm probably realistically choosing between 1 & 2, because we would like to be able to walk to the parks. My daughter can't walk long distances so the Sheraton would require us to use the ART or Toy Story parking.

I have read through some other forums here and elsewhere to get an idea about each hotel, but I am wondering if any experienced DISers here might be able to help me choose. We are a family of 3 (2 adults and a 17 year old daughter) and plan to stay 6 nights at the end of June to early July (busy!!!). We will have a car. Cost *is* a factor on this trip, but all these hotels are within our reach. I'm actually surprised how expensive they are at this time of the year, though! USD$174/night at the Best Western! I have stayed in the Best Western once before and paid nowhere near as much as what I'm expecting to pay this time. But it was definitely close.

The Ramada is right next door. I've never stayed there.
Would you guys choose the Ramada or the Best Western?

I can only comment on the Best Western as that is the one we stayed at in 2013 (back then it didn't have a breakfast room yet, either) but we had no complaints. The walk was quite quick, several restaurants nearby (IHOP esp which we love LOL). The pool, although on the small side, was fine. We preferred the second building,a bit further back from the street, as it was a bit quieter. No complaints. Free parking was a big bonus as we drove down on tha particular trip and our car did not move an inch during our 4 night stay! Surprised at your rate of $174/night though, think we paid about $115/night for August 2013. Wish we were staying there this coming October in fact but my husband got a corporate deal through his work for Castle Inn ( $75/night) so that's where we are staying this trip. Otherwise would not hesitate to book this Best Western again.

Thanks for the info, bcwife76. The rate is actually $146/night, but with taxes, etc, it's really $174. IMHO there's no point quoting a rate that doesn't include everything - it's not like the tax is optional. But even then, $146/night is near the top of the rates you can pay. All the hotels are expensive at that time of the year, unfortunately, but it is the only time we can go. Grrr...

Anyone stayed at this Ramada?

We have stayed at both in recent years. The Ramada is a nice hotel that's in great shape with good service and a fair free breakfast (except there's almost no place to sit). The BWPPI is also nice and has been getting constant updates the last few years. The difference comes down to proximity (BWPPI is much closer to the main gate) and breakfast - which is much better because of the seating and wonderful food selection (fruit, eggs, fresh made waffles, etc).
So my vote is for BWPPI. You simply cant go wrong with this place and it has become out go-to hotel. We don't even check prices anymore. If they have a room then we stay there.
