Im going to Disney World next week and I noticed that the forecast says it will rain ALL WEEK!! Does this actually happen in Orlando? All day? -Thanks

Usually not all day. Just 10 minutes to 5 hours in the afternoon to early evening.

They were getting some significant long running strong rain in the last couple of weeks. I don't know if next week will be like that or not. That's not normal. However, the crowds will be low:) We just poncho up and soldier one.

Most of the time it is for a short period, or sometimes a little longer. I don't think I have ever been there when it rained steady all day long. We had a substantial amount of rain on our visit a couple of years ago, but I don't remember it ruining my day. The main thing I remember is sitting with a sleeping baby in a stroller under an overhang behind Cinderella's Castle and praying the crowd that was gathered under there with me didn't wake her up. And, Tink didn't fly, but the show went on. Sometimes, the rain is quick. I have come out of attractions before and can tell it had rained, but while I was inside so I missed it. Embrace it; sometimes it doubles as crowd control.

ETA: we have our ponchos at the ready. Earlier this week I laid them all out while I decided which design to take on this trip, lol

We just returned from our trip 6/7-6/14 and there were days that the rain lingered throughout the day. It was pretty overcast most of the time this past week, but it wasn't pouring rain all the time. There were dry periods, but the rain tended to return and be drizzly alot. It definitely wasn't the usual sunny mornings, afternoon storms, and sunny afterwards. But we did everything we wanted and the upside is that it was cooler and less humid!

Just like every summer in Florida.

Usually rains daily anywhere from 12-3pm for either 10min-2 hours. Scattered showers.

Plan for brief rain daily but you'll likely see more than enough sun

A 90% chance of rain doesn't mean that it will rain for 90% of the day, just that there's a 90% chance that it will rain at some point in the day. As others have noted, daily afternoon showers, or thunderstorms, are a given for this time of year in Florida. They are usually isolated and brief and not extensive enough to spoil your day.

Plan for at least a brief period of rain somewhere around 3:00 (when we lived in FL when it would start to rain in the afternoon everyone would say "It's raining, it must be 3:00!"). Sometimes the rain lasts a bit longer but rarely does it rain all day. The weather lately has been a bit unusual. You can still have a great time in the parks even if it rains all day. People leave the parks in DROVES when it starts to rain - it seems that many people think they will melt if they get wet. Throw on a poncho and just keep going. Remember that MANY attractions have lines and pre-shows that are entirely indoors so you will rarely be standing outside getting drenched.

While it is possible to have a day where it rains all day, or a day where a significant portion of the day is raining, that is not the norm by any mean.

What is typical, as others have said, is for there to be a brief storm, sometime around mid to late afternoon. That storm may be intense, with very heavy rain, and possibly significant lightning. Typically, the storm will last somewhere between 10 minutes, and an hour or two at most, and then give way to bright sunny skies for the remainder of the evening.

Yes OP, it can rain all day long. All week long. We have been there when this very thing happened - twice. At this very time of year. Just hope that a tropical storm doesn't park itself off the coast and send non-ending rain.

Everyone says rain is great - it clears out the crowds and just put on your poncho and go. That is great advice for a couple of days. After that, all day rain is the pits. Nothing worse than putting back on wet shoes and a wet poncho for another day of rain in the parks.

Hope it is just normal rain for your week. We were just there and had pretty normal rain showers for our 2 weeks :)

When we went in 2011 we had two consecutive days where it rained all day long, our designated Epcot days. Like others have said, we just put on our ponchos and got on with the business of having fun despite the rain. The crowds really thinned out; we waited only five-ten minutes for Soarin' as I recall.

Can I ask a weird question? Does anyone just use an umbrella instead of a poncho? A poncho doesn't sound too comfortable, especially in the heat, and then there is the issue with your shoes still getting soaked.

Just back and yes it rained almost everyday of our trip. We brought both ponchos and an umbrella in our backpack. We figured out quickly that we preferred the umbrella but it seemed 80% of the people in the parks preferred ponchos.

This was a once in a lifetime trip and I remember before we left being worried about the rain. The rain didn't affect the enjoyment of our trip at all. We had a blast! I actually enjoyed when the rain came through and cooled things off.

We were there last week. Generally it started raining around noon and stopped somewhere between 3-8:00. We did have one day where it poured from 10-6 at Epcot. It wasn't awesome.... but we put on our ponchos and trucked on. If you are willing to eat outside in a downpour.... it is very easy to get a waterside table at Yorkshire fish and chips, lol! We had to put up the umbrella at the table and wipe it down... but after that, we stayed relatively dry (with ponchos on). Test track was down most of the day because of the rain... so that was a bummer since we had a fast pass for it.

We were mentally planning for typical June rain.... and we got much more. But the two days it didn't rain were brutally hot.... so I think I preferred the rain!

Dry season ended May 27th and it was an extremely dry season that had us in a very serious drought,it barely rained, especially towards the end of the dry season. For the past two weeks its been raining to make up for all the dry months, normally in rainy season we get a sunny morning, the day heats up and hits 90-95 degrees then the clouds come and it pours for an hour or two and usually improves later in the day.The last two weeks however have not been the norm, the rains have definitely hung around a lot longer than normal, pretty much every afternoon and even into 7pm or even into the night have been anywhere from ugly, drizzly days to total washouts.

Question- if a ride is closed that you have a fastpass for, will they give you a new one?

From the FP FAQ Post #2:
- If an attraction is closed temporarily due to weather or technical issues during a guest’s scheduled FP window, the FP can be used for that same attraction at any time for the remainder of the day (assuming it reopens). In addition, the FP can be used for specific other attractions (located in the same park) for the remainder of the day. CMs at the affected attraction can provide a list and MDX may send an email to the MDX account holder to alert them of their options.

Some use an umbrella. If you do take caution as to not poke anyone and not drip water on anyone else.

Not saying you will, but some people aren't aware their inconveniencing others around them.

I dislike ponchos as their ugly and hot..so when it rains, I just bring a windbreaker that has a hood on it.

I prefer an umbrella over ponchos and would rather get wet than wear a poncho.
Umbrellas are fine when walking around, like @CAS239 make sure not to hit anyone with it but the problem is when you are waiting for an outdoor show. Fantasmic or SWaGS or HEA or the stage shows, it's just common courtesy to close your umbrella once the show starts

We were in a drought and had fires and now we are getting the much needed rain. We will also be getting a bumper crop of mosquitos so be sure to use your repellent!
