Not cruising for quite some time, but want to ensure I book some time in the Rainforest Spa. When and how do you go about booking the use of the facility? Any not to be missed treatments? Kindly advise. Thanks!

I'm not sure you understand what the rainforest is. Basically it is a collection of steam rooms of various scents and intensities as well as a couple of specialty showers. On the new ships there is also a hot tub. It is a coed facility (swimsuit required). There are some nice heated lounge chairs in the most mild steam area. You don't book time, you buy a pass that is good for the whole day and you can come and go as you wish. Multi-day passes are also available.

On our last Fantasy cruise, they were selling scented body scrubs and calling it an "enhanced" rainforest experience (this was a you do it; they supplied the stuff.)

There are no treatments in the rainforest. You spend time there on your own with a good book or enjoying the view of the ocean (new ships) or the decorative pool in the main room (classic ships).

Thanks for the information. So, the Rainforest is a room within the spa? It sounds like the perfect way to relax and is certainly something I want to do. Do you need to buy a pass in advance?

We bought a week pass the first day. I think it was 150.00 per couple.
We spent time in there every day. Fun to do but probably would not do a week long pass again.

You can buy single day passes in advance on line, but there is no need to. They are the same price on the ship. The longer passes (multi day, couples, length of stay, etc.) are available only on the ship.

My suggestion would be to do a spa tour. See the room, and then decide if you want to do it. My personal experience is that I've loved it on "cooler weather" cruises, but during hot weather I enjoy the pool deck more.

Yes, the rainforest is a large room within the spa.

The Vista Spa (and whatever they called it on the Fantasy) is adults only. DCL defines an adult as a person 18 and over.

Anyone have any pictures of RF on the Dream or Fantasy? Sounds like Heaven to me!:)

Davids Vacation Rentals Blog on Facebook took some pics and posted them (it's a public site). Go to facebook or to his website and you should be able to see the pics.

We absolutely love the RF experience. My DW and I did it on our recent MR cruise on the Wonder, and it definitely wasn't as nice as on the newer ships but still worth it to us.

kcashner made a good point, go do a walk through the spa. The departure day they always have a big spa giveaway. Go and enter to see if you can win, then take a tour of RF to see if you like it. However, if you feel like you would not want to do it every day (like kcashner mentioned) you are smarter to just buy individual day passes instead of the full length multi-day pass. There is a very small discount for the multi-day, so if you don't use it every day you will pay for days you didn't use.

As I remember, I think the multi-day pass broke even if you used it 6 days on a 7 day cruise. If you are only going to use it 3 days, just get 3 day passes.
The only drawback to this is technically they could sell out of passes with the multi-day and have no single passes left, but we have never seen that happen.

Hope you enjoy your cruise :thumbsup2

Tours are given from the time of boarding until the muster drill...and again after the drill. If you don't get in the first day, they will be happy to show you around later in the week.

And above is correct--the length of cruise pass is a good deal only if you go EVERY day. Miss one day and you are better off purchasing daily passes. Better yet, get a 3 or 4 day pass on a 7 day cruise. It isn't as good a "deal" as the full week, but then again, you have a lot more flexibility with the choice of days you'll go.

The rainforest room is a must do. We bought a pass for one day online through the online gifts link on dcl.com, and we used it the 2nd sea day a couple weeks ago on the Fantasy Western. The reason I bought it online in advance is that last time we went on the Dream I told myself I'd do Rainforest one of the days, but I didn't get around to it. In buying it in advance, it forced me to make time for it, and I'm so glad I did! Definitely wouldn't buy the week long pass...

I am a spa lizard at home. :) That means I love to go to my local spa and get massages, etc. So, on the ship I wanted to do something DIFFERENT, not just pay $190 for a hot stone massage when I can get one at home for half the price. So, I opted for this crazy treatment that involved a body brushing, seaweed wrap and time on the 0 gravity flotation bed while receiving a scalp and foot massage. It was seriously cool and very memorable. That flotation bed was amazing!

My husband had some kind of treatment involving similar body brush and a milk bath thingie - he also loved it.

In the Rainforest room, they had some special advertised (I think just for Rainforest guests.) It was some type of sampler package for $135 or something like that.

The spa gives the BEST deals of the week on embarkation day. They give tours on embarkation day (ask to see the 0 gravity flotation bed) and they also give discounts or extra time on spa services. I booked the spa service, above, for the night of embarkation and I received extra time for no extra cost. I think I was in there like 2.5 hours or something - my husband also booked one that night as well and received a discount.

We blew off the show for the 1st night becasue one of the posters on here said she wasn't crazy about it... Personally I would rather be in the spa! :thumbsup2

Do you remember anything about the spa sampler package? Price and what they give you. And how do you find out when the tours are on embarkation day?

I sure hope they have this spa or one similiar on the Magic!
I am ready to go !

The Spa Villa for two was about the best spa experience that I have ever had. Service was great, and there's something about looking out at the Caribbean while your ship pulls out of port that creates the most relaxing feeling ever.

The tours will be listed on the navigator.
On my cruise is was from boarding until 3:30. Pretty much everything shuts down at 3:30 for the safety drill. There is a raffle at 3:15. We did not win but they did give out a lot of prizes. You have to be present to win and many people turn in the card and don't go to the drawing.
