Rainforest Fee

I have been on five Disney cruises and have paid the fee to use the Rainforest each cruise . I will be going on a seven day Western Caribbean in January and I am undecided if I will pay this fee again . Why ? Every time I went into the Rainforest I met people that did not pay the fee . Some knew about the fee but did not pay it , and some were actually unaware of the fee .
I have never witnessed a spa employee check to see if you have paid the fee . I have complained about this fee on my comment card on each cruise but it appears to no avail . We have cruised 8 times on RCCL and once on Carnival and they do not have a fee to use the steam or suana facilities . GRRRR!

I wonder if people are just confused.. since most places sauna is included.. and they thing the rainforest is the sauna?

Or they are just dishonest... which is a shame. But to me, I wouldn't like to have someone come in when I am lounging and ask to see my pass. Part of what I like about the rainforest is how quiet and peaceful it is.. and how you can come and go as you please, so easily.

FYI, not sure if you knew or not, but there is a sauna in the changing rooms, and that one has no fee.

I agree that the Rainforest should NOT require a fee. But we always pay it and have clear conscience about using it. There are always people who want something for nothing, BUT I do think that the Rainforest should be a free area for passengers. Mom disagreed with that and said, "Then it would be too crowded!!!"

I know....I think it's so cheesy that you have to pay for RFR....it really should be free....

airbus, how were you able to determine who paid the fee for RFR, and who didnt? Just curious

Alexandrew , I found out by talking to people in the steam room . Some admit they didn't pay(one guy was proud of it) and weren't going to . I have heard others say they didn't know there was a fee . It makes me angry to know many are using the Rainforest without paying the fee when I have . DCL needs to eliminate this fee or not allow the freeloaders access to the RF in fairness to those that pay the fee .

well, I'm the opposite - paid the $8 one day fee (with other service) and never stepped foot in the rainforest

When we went on our 7 day I think it was around $80 but the morning we were to disembark the new signs were already up for the RFR and the price was about $65 for the week. My DH and I thought this was a load of crap that it was less expensive because their ship was not booked to capacity.

I have never been to the RFR but still feel it should be included in the price. DCL is very expensive with not alot of extras included.

Everytime we have gone on a 7 day cruise, the weekly rate was $50, or $15 for a single day use. That is also what I've seen in the most recent Navigator's posted on other sites. About Day3 or 4, they do offer a reduced fee of $30 for the rest of the cruise.

Regarding people using it for free, I have seen people roam in obviously looking around for the first time and I assume have not paid, but they usually leave after a short visit. If someone knowingly uses it for free and purposely doesn't pay, their actions speak tons about their character, and I wouldn't worry about them!

Personally, I feel that the fee probably limits the visitors to those who really want to enjoy the quiet..... plus an occasional thief! I gladly pay the fee...to me it is the best bargain on the ship!!!

Personally, we LOVE the large showers in the Ladies Dressing Rooms - it's great to use the sauna, shower then sit in those wonderful loungers and just relax to the music!!!

Yup, the only way to go!!!

I just went for one day and .... WOW what a great experience, I really liked the way it was VERY empty. The stone loungers, the scents, the variety of steam rooms, it was all very worth it! An amazing treat after my day in Cozumel!

The Rainforest is at Vista Spa - there are several ways to purchase - one trip on a scheduled treatment day ($8), daily ($15)and by the week ($50) - towards the end of the cruise the cost will go down for the weekly pass.

With the Rainforest, you can use the dressing rooms - and get a basket of products to use while you are there - it includes shampoo and lotions.

They no longer have combs available in the dressing rooms, as they had previously.

I just looked on our navigators from our trip and I was definately incorrect about the price. Sorry everyone I am not sure what I saw for $80 for the week at the spa.

It also has a price in here for $30 for 3 days.
Its open 8am to 10 pm.

Just curious....on my cruise in September, I walked in for one day at the rainforest. at the time i charged the fee to my KTTW I was asked to add a gratuity. I was surpised and asked if i could leave a gratuity at the end since I couldn't determine an appropriate amount since I hadn't received any service. this was met with a good level of frustration on the CM's part.

just wondering how much others tip for the rainforest and if they have had to do the gratuity "up front"

I gladly pay the fee to have the luxury of the RFR. I practically lived in there. I think the fee definitely keeps the crowds down. When DH & I did the surial bath, we were told to meet in the RFR and relax before the SB room was ready, maybe that was what was happening with the "freeloaders"!

When Mom was asked to put a gratuity on her week long Rainforest Pass, she looked at them and said, "For what???" as only a 74 year old woman can!

I think that's ridiculous to ask for one. I know I am the big preacher of tips, but a tip is for something done. Yes, they do have someone to do the towels but HUH?!???!?!?!

When I used the term "freeloaders" I did not mean those that were in the RFR while waiting for a spa service . I have met guest on every cruise that know there is a fee but refuse to pay it . Has anyone ever seen a spa staffer question someone in the RFR if they have paid the fee ? I haven't . The solution is really quite simple . Eliminate the fee or place a card lock on the door entering the RFR .
