I've eaten at both WDW Rainforest Cafe's. They are great! I totally love the potroast. I have a mypoints account and I use my points to get $25 gift cards before our Disney trips. It helps out on the cost because there are six of us. I try to call in reservations before we arrive at Disney. If we are shopping Downtown then we'll see if we can get a reservation for later when we're done.

What is the card you are talking about scanning? I know there is a discount card to purchase. Why would you have to scan it yearly? Is there more to it than a discount? Anyone with all the details? I'd appreciate it!

The card is the Safari club, we bought it because you will be seated at the next available time. We usually wait 5- 15 minutes, even when they are taking no walk ups. Also you do get 10% off your food. You do have to use it once a year or it will expire, you can use it at any Landry's restaurant. We have a Landry's in Louisiana, also you can use it at Joe's crab shack. They send you a birthday certificate & an anniversary certificate worth $10 every year. I think it is worth the seating though, being able to get a table no matter what. We love the food here.

Thanks!!!! It looks fun, but I'll have to make sure he know's what he's "in for".......... LOL!!!! Does anyone have a rough idea of the prices?? I found the menu, but no prices......... I'd just like to have an idea. OH, does anyone have any pics??? That would be great!!!

Thanks so much!!!!!
It has been 10 years since our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) ate there at DTD. It was really fun. Our waiter was great. We were in the gorilla section. If I remeber correctly our bill came to $85.00 and I'm sure the prices have gone up since then. I do remember telling myself when we left that DH and I could have shared a meal as could the girls. My 10 year old DD ordered spaghetti and the bowl of food she got was like what you would put on the table for the whole family!! You should have seen her face! :earseek: :rotfl: We had a LOT of food left over! Anyway, it was definately worth going but next time will probably share meals.

I agree with Kim, we always share our food too. My kids order from the kids menu though, and they do not share. DD gets a small pizza, & DS gets animal shaped chicken nuggets. They love the food as well. We were there in Sept 05, and we did not share, I even got dessert and I think the bill was about $95

you can join the safari club by phone if there is not an rfc by you.. i did and they are great...they even let me keep it active by faxing in my Joe's Crab shack receipt from my gift certif. meals ( you get the benefits at JDS but you can't scanned to get credit to keep the club active). i just called the number on the website. i know people pan rfc but while it isn't 5 star gourmet it's fun

the safari club has a card that has to be scanned to prove you used it at least once a yr to remain active and get the birthday and anniversary of joining gift certs...however the amount depends on how much you use them and mine are only $5 each since i usually only fax in the one i need to keep active.
( hope the above is ok and not considered"sellling"_

So, if you get the safari card is it good forever as long as you scan it yearly or does it expire? I'm a little fuzzy on this.

forever if you scan it once a yr or if you call and they let you send in a receipt for a laundry's rest.

I have used mine at Landry's restaurant's & I did not call or send in my receipt, and I used the card this past trip in Sept. So I am not sure if you are suppossed to do this, but I never do and my card is still active.

I bought the Safari club card for $15 and and you can receive a free appetizer or 10% off your meal. We went to the one in DTD and it was packed I showed my card and was in and seated within 5 minutes it is well worth the money. I really like RFC and the food is really good, the stuff sole is really great. Linda

I'm going to call about getting the safari card, and ask about using it here, we go to Joe's once in awhile, and there is a Landry's about an hour from us, so we could use it there as well. I just want to make sure I can use it at other places to keep it active since there is no RFC near us. I appreciate all the info............

does anyone know if it is $15 or $25?? I thought someone had posted that?? I guess I'll find out when I call, just wanting to know beforehand. Thanks again, you guys are a great source of info!!!!

I'm not sure about the cost since I have had mine for years, but it also comes with a $10 discount on your first purchase.

I bought my card several years ago and it was $15 then but the price might have gone up since then. When I paid for it they told me it was lifetime card and you only pay once. I would also receive a $5 certificate near my birthday each year but could never use it as there are no RFC's near us. Linda

goodness, I didn't know you had to fax your Crab Shack receipt in. I thought they just scanned it somehow when tallying up my order. I wonder if there is a way to find out if it's on there. I'll have to call or something.

I'm fairly certain I paid $15 when I joined in June.
