Can you sign up for the rainforest card online?

Unfortunately, no. I called the Safari Club number before the trip I ended up buying and was told that you could only sign up in a store/restaurant. Now I don't know if you can call a store and have them process the membership over the phone or not. . . I didn't try that.
If anyone knows the answer I too would like to know, there are no RFC anywhere near me, I think the closest is Las Vegas unless there is one in the San Francisco Bay Area.

There is one in San Francisco. It's in the Fisherman's Wharf / Pier 39 area.

I just got off the phone with them, I was looking for a January 4th, 2007 ressie and the girl on the phone told me they were only taking ressies thru Dec. I figure I will call again a little later today and see if I get the same answer.
Called RFC again and this time I had no issue making a ressie for Jan 4, 2007! :thumbsup2
Typical Disney speak with 2 people who do the same job for the same organization and get 2 different answers!

Now I just gotta figure out how to get that Safari Club membership -

Pier 39, rats we were there over Memorial Day and I never even saw it! I don't think we will be back to San Fran this year!

I called this number 407-827-8500 and made reservations last Aug for DTD RFC.

The time we were given was 8pm. We showed up 5 mins early, and people were outside and fuming that the wait time was 2.5 hours. Some had clearly waited a long time and were not happy! :furious:

I checked in @ the elephant, then approx 10 mins later ( 8:10) our name was called and we walked to the cue for the gorrilla room. People who had walked up, were waiting @ the elephant room line. (our line was much shorter)

We waited there another 10 mins then were seated. DH really likes this restaurant and I was so pleased I had called before!!!
:goodvibes

This is exactly what we've experienced the last three times we've been to RFC DTD, right down to the approximate wait times and the angry people waiting outside. :lmao: It always make me so happy that we called ahead and made a ressie.

Hey. :teeth:

I asked my DH about that card and he said no, because it would only get used at Disney. There is no RC around here.

I hate to admit it, but for $15, it is worth it. You'll get a gift certificate for $5 or $10 (I forget which) and you'll of course get 10% off or a free appetizer (selected items or $8 off more expensive ones). But the real value is in the wait time.

The last three times we went to RFC at DTD, the standby wait time was at least 1.5 hours. We walked up to the elephant, showed them the card and were SEATED in less than 10 minutes. Two times I remember it was 6 minutes on the nose.

I don't really want everyone in the world to get one of these, for selfish reasons, but they are worth it, even for one trip.

ITA - I only use mine at Disney (except once in Vegas) and it's more than paid for itself. It's $10 they send when they process the membership, then $5 for birthdays and such. A number of people on the budget board confirmed that the expiration date doesn't matter - managers at RC have confirmed that they don't look at the date, they'll accept them anytime. So even if you go once a year, and hang onto the certificates. . . it's paid for itself after the first birthday.

Yes, the safari club is well worth it. None or little waiting and free appetizers.

I was also told you couldnt' make ADR's for the DTD Raindforest Cafe. When we were there in May, there was a 2.5 hour wait by the time we tried to get in for dinner. Luckily, they had a staff member signing people up for the "Safari Club." Usually we don't take the bait for things like that, but listened and decided to go ahead and join. I think it was $15 for a lifetime membership, but I'm not 100% that was the exact price. We paid in cash and I threw out the receipt so I can't double check. It eded up being a great decision. We were immediately put at the top of the wait list and got a "free" appetizer. Last week we got our official plastic Safari Club card with a $10 gift certificate towards a meal. We went a few days later to the Rainforest Cafe in Towson Town Center and used the certificate. We also got 10% off our meals and any merchandise too. We arrived at 5:45 and they told the family in front of us the wait was then 7:15. We were seated at 6:05 with the priority seating you get as a club member. Check out the Rainforest Cafe site for specifics if interested.
We became members of the Safari Club, last year and it's the best $15 we've ever spent! No more waiting, and free app's everytime we go. We went to the DTD location in May at 6:00 and were escorted to a table within 5 minutes!

The Rainforest Cafe is the worst restaurant in all of WDW!!!!!!! Really, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. The theme is cute-don't get me wrong. The service is just okay, the wait is horendous and the food is down right awful. There are so many other great restaurants to choose from------

You may think that but looking at the consistent wait times I dont think alot of others feel the same :confused3

I disagree - We went to the RFC at AK in January. When we arrived at AK earlier in the day we went and made a preferred seating for 8 that eve. We arrived back at RFC and were seated within 10-15 minutes, no biggee, had a cold beer and browsed the fish tanks.

The restaurant was packed, the service was a little slow, but IMO the food was very good, much better than some of the Disney restaurants we had eaten in during the week and not as expensive. The Foo-Foo drinks were on the spendy side.

I have ressies now for Jan 07 and am looking forward to it.

ITA - if you have to have all the extras, it gets pretty pricy but the actual entrees are no more expensive than any other table service on property and the portions are HUGE. I'm sure they have some less than stellar choices but everything I've had has tasted great.

The service can be a little slow, but there is SO much going on that those lulls aren't as obvious as in other restaurants . . . unless you're impatiently checking your watch, in a hurry to keep it moving.

We have eaten about both RFC and I won't eat at the one in DD again. Service 3 times was horrible, so slow, about 15 min wait for drinks, 20 for appetizer then another 30 for meal. EACH time...so it was consistently slow...
However.......The RFC at AK, great service every time we have gone there,we always go to that one instead of DD.
DD you call direct to make priority seating and AK one you call the main WDW DINE number, as I'm sure was already posted.
Food at both places was good.....just we have had consistently slow service at DD one and prefer the Ak one.

We have a Safari Card but I do not recall ever getting a free appetizer. Did you get something in the mail from them or did they just tell you at the restaurant? We only used our card at Downtown Disney but now there is one in Atlantic City so we will be able to get more use out of it.

It was in the info I got when I signed up. It's also on the website. If you go to the Rainforest Cafe site and click on "Ozzie" (the monkey) it'll give you Safari Club info. The list is abbreviated on that page, but if you click on where it says "Safari Club Benefits" it goes into a little more detail. The free appetizer is explained with the 10% off, you can choose either option.

Thanks. It looks like you have a choice of the free appetizer or 10% off. With 5 of us, we have always taken the 10% and never realized there was a choice. I'm waiting for certificates I just redeemed from My Points for RFC so we will essentially have a free meal!

We went to the RC on our last night last year, and it was by far the worst meal we had. It was overpriced and the food was terrible. The view on the patio is nice, but not worth the price.

I would reccommend Earl of Sandwich or another resteraunt. But my family and I wil never give business to a RC again.

I totally, 100% disagree!!! We loved this restaurant both in Downtown Disney and in Animal kingdom! We thought the food was great and the atmosphere was spectacular. The service was also good. One of our favorite places to eat on our most recent trip!!!

We always take the 10% off as well, even though usually it's just 2 or 3. There is SO much food with the entrees that even splitting an appetizer is way too much, LOL. Although some people enjoy an appetizer as a whole meal, so for those that have those people in their party - this would be a big perk.

When I first got the card, our waitress explained about the 10% off or appetizer and said that it's basically any of the cheapest "tier" of appetizers that you can choose from. It's not open to any appetizer. Looking at the menu, it seems $8.99 is the cheapest (and that sounds familiar) which means you can choose from Chimi-Cha-Cha, Rainforest Pita Quesadillas, Cheese Sticks, Caribe Chicken, and Island Bruschetta.
