Do I really need a reservation?? Can I not go there and put my name down and wait a few minutes for a table??

Okay, sorry I don't have an answer for you:sad2: I'm also interested to find out the answer. I was under the impression that you couldn't make a reservation for RFC at either (AK or DTD.) We'll be eating at the DTD one our first night, which is a Saturday, so if we could make a reservation that'd be great. Anyone have info.?

We had an ADR for RFC/AK last year.

You can still get in without one, but depending on the time you go, I've seen an hour - 1.5 hour wait. It's particularly bad at closing, since the park closes so early...a lot of people head there.

If you know you are going and will be there at a prime lunch times or around closing I would recommend it just to avoid the wait. But if you can't get one, it doesn't mean you won't get in.

I would recommend that you make an ADR. On our first trip to WDW, we wanted to eat at Rainforest Cafe and the walk-up wait was more than an hour and a half...the restaurant was empty by the time we finished dinner (no dessert because of the time.) We spent a lot of time wandering the giftstore!

For our second trip, I made an ADR and had to cancel (the toddler in our group needed a nap.) We were told we could wait for a table; we did and the wait took almost 2 hours. From now on I'm gonna make an ADR and keep it or find somewhere else to eat!

There's another thread right around this one that discusses reservations there.

This June I tried to make one for the Cafe at DTD and was told they do not take reservations at that one; only at the Cafe at AK. So now I'm very confussed and the OP on the "other" thread has promised to let us know if he got a reservation at the DTD location.

I just called (407) 827-8500, and made a "priority seating" reservation for 8/30/08 I'm so excited that worked! I asked him if they took ressies, and he said they take priority seating, which is basically the same thing.

Thank you so much. (again :lmao: ) As I posted on the other thread you replied to, I just called and got my reservation for October. I'll be sure to keep that number especially since DH and I enjoy going there when we're together on our summer trips.

We have been there on teo past trips and didn't have a reservation either time. The first time we went for dinner and waited about 45 mins to be seated and the second time we went for lunch and were seated immediately.

Hubby and I always go to RFC when in Disney...

For the one in AK, we've never had to wait. We always do a weekday late lunch/early dinner (around 4:30ish) and have always gotten in.

As for the one in DTD, unless you REALLY want to be inside, ask the host about Patio Seating.

The last time we were there, the wait inside was over an hour but for the patio we were seated almost immediately and had the best view of the sunset over the water. LOVED IT!!!

As for reservations, AK takes them, DTD does not....hope this helps.

Thanks so much for this info. :thumbsup2 We have eaten here several times, and I swear, I never even knew there was a patio!

That's why I posted it! As you can see in the photo, there's BARELY anyone out there! It was awesome!

The guidebooks I've bought both say you can't make ADRs for either location. I am interested in taking my DDs to the one in AK - you can make ADRs? Is it 180 days out? Or another time frame?

Thank you for any insight!

If you call them directly at the number posted a few threads up you can make a reservation. I have no idea about the time frame, but I made mine for October 18th and there wasn't a problem.

I know this June while I was in WDW I called Member Services (I'm a DVC Member) and they told me they could not make reservations for the Cafe at DTD, only for the AK. But today I found this thread and called them directly and now I'm set.

We had lunch at the AK location last Sunday and literally walked right in. The place was pretty much empty. We found the same to be true at a couple of other table service restaurants at lunch time too.

We'll be eating at the RC in DTD in September, you dont "need" and ADR but its always a good idea to have them....FYI they do take ADRs-we made ours and got a regular confirmation # like all the other Disney Restaurants :rolleyes1
