Rainforest cafe at AK--Any good?

I read some of the reviews from Rainforest cafe and came away some what curious. The menu looks and sounds great. The main problem with the cafe seemed to be the noise factor. That was one of the cons/negatives that people listed. Is it really that bad? Does the potential of good food outweigh the noise? Just asking.

My DBF took her boys (4 and 7½) there a couple weeks ago, and they had a fabulous time, but the thing to remember is that the noise is kind of the point. I mean, it's noisy mostly because it's filled with animatronic animals that are making noise. So you have to decide if you mind the noise or not.

They ate there during AK evening EMHs and it was really empty, so it wasn't too loud, but it's loud even when it's empty.

You're in New Jersey? Go to the one at Menlo Park Mall instead. It's cheaper and less crowded.

RF (at either Disney location) is a very noisy place. For some this is an attraction, for others its an annoyance. As you probably read in the reviews, while the menu looks good the actual food isn't spectacular and the service is slow.

Thanks for then info! I think the noise wouldn't bother me so much if the food was good. If the food is so-so, I'm guessing the noise would irrate someone.

You might want to look at the reviews here on the DIS. This link is for the RF at DTD but I would expect the same comments for the one at the entrance of AK.

NO WAY!!! Of all the rest we have eaten this was the worst. It was LOUD the food was awful and the price was high. I promise u it is the pitts.

I've been to Rainforest Cafes all over. Several spots in TX and Disney (not exactly all over but...). They are all the same. Loud with mediocre food. I don't go for me, I go for my young kids. If you go with the attitude that you're going for kids' experience, you'll enjoy it.

It's supposed to be loud anyway. They have a scheduled rainstorm with thunder strikes and all that, gorillas grunting, elephants sounding off, birds calling, etc. Last time we had a waiter who came to the table all crouched down, grunting like a gorilla. The kids loved it.

Don't go there for a romantic dinner, LOL

I might add, that was THE ONLY restuarant where we could walk up and be seated immediately at 6pm, THANKSGIVING DAY. So, take that for what it's worth.

The other negative.....it's not on the Dining Plan. Otherwise, we'd be going for breakfast, noisy or not.

I've been to the Rainforest Café at Animal Kingdom and the one at Anaheim's Downtown Disney a couple times each, but always for breakfast. Both have been fundamental ghost towns every time I've visited. That said, the noise from the Animatronics and the "thunderstorms" seem even louder without bodies and the din of conversation to absorb some of the noise. It's a pretty good breakfast, though, not that a good breakfast is that hard to do.

It's fun for kids. The one at AK is less of a madhouse than the one at DD. The food is ok.

Loud? yes. Service? Pretty slow, at least every time I've been. I think I had to wait about 30 before our check came the last time. Food? Personally I really like the food. It's always been hot, fresh, and tasty. I rate food based on what it is. If I were to go to V&A I would expect the best, if I go to Cosmic Rays I expect the food to be exactly what it is fast food. So compared to Ruby Tuesday or Applebees I think it's alot better. That's just my 2 cents worth.
